And why won't this question post...ugghhh

Please give us more than Bible verses.

For the longest time you railed against the "homosexual lifestyle" because you said we were all promiscuous thugs.

Now, we want to get married and commit to each other and you tell us it threatens the santity of marriage...

So, isn't this double talk...you say we are promiscuous...we want to commit...but, you won't let us...what gives?

"It's just wrong" - now there's a well-reasoned rational argument (rolls eyes).

I think the main objection fundamentalists have to gay marriage is that they define marriage as 'one man and one woman under God to do God's will, and make babies for God, with the man working 9 to 5 and the woman staying at home, and obeying her man, and maybe joining the PTA'

And they absolutely refuse to acknowledge that any other definition of marriage by anyone else can possibly be valid - because to them the holy rite of marriage is only a marriage if it's done under God, and therefore only marriages done under God are valid marriages, because only God can validate marriage, because marriages are holy under God and besides two guys kissing is icky.

They refuse to accept that there might indeed be people in this country, or on this planet that don't necessarily share their religion or their definition of marriage.

You know what's funny about Christian fundametalists is they say because God says so in the bible. But which part? Why it's the Old Testament (aka the Torah) of course! The bible of the Jews. And the Jewish people (including Jewish conservatives) support gay rights! So to all you Christian fundametalists out there I have a quote from Comedy Central's Carlos Mencia show........Deet-De-Deet!

The main reason I am not in favor of gay marriage in particular and homosexuality in general, is because God said that a man laying with a man was unnatural, and an abomination. Since I am a Bible believing Christian, I have to believe what it says, or be a hypocrite, so, I'm not judging you, I'm just believing what the Word teaches me. As Christians, in the Bible, we are called " The Bride Of Christ" & Jesus is called The Bride Groom. Our relationship to Jesus is, in God's eyes, the same as the relationship between a man & his wife. So, when we see two men or two women want to enter into marriage, to us it's against the sanctity with which God holds marriage between a Christian Man and a Christian Woman. Finally, why did God create Adam & Eve instead of Adam & Steve ? None of us would be here if the latter had happened.
Think about it. Just really try to see it from our side.

You are doing something rather humorous and I wonder if you noticed it. You have bracketed people who call themselves "fundamentalists" and then you ask them to give an answer without using Bible verses. That's like asking Darwin to prove evolution is true without using any of his own theories. Going into the root word of your bracketed group, we go to the fundamental belief system. This belief system comes from the Bible. So, if you don't want answers from the Bible, you might want to word things a bit differently.

Our basic belief of why homosexuality should be outlawed is because the God of the Bible destroyed two large cities (think of LA and Chicago put together and you get the magnitude of size) simply because the cities were founded with homosexuality. So if homosexuality becomes a legal thing, it would make heterosexuality a crime. Since heterosexuality has long been referred to as the "right, correct, and true way of marriage", ANYTHING that threatens to make what is "right" WRONG and things that are "wrong" RIGHT threatens the very morals that the fundamental Christian stand on.

There are some of us that don't care what this society does with there own business, so please don't say everyone. To answer your question without the bible, which should be a given anyway, this country was and is (the constitution) is souly and is truely based on and about the BIBLE and The Whole BIBLE.!!!!! Accept this and get over it. Because when Jesus comes back for his Chosen people, then you'all can then have whatever kind of life and all that intails for everyone left. Jesus made everyone of us to be together. But mind you, not with the SAME SEX. If this was HIS idea, then HE would have made Everyone of us the SAME SEX!!!!! So this lifestyle isn't what JESUS had in mind when He made everything that has life and breath to be in this world because believe this or not THIS HAS BEEN IN HIS WORD (BIBLE) SINCE HE MADE THE WORLD AND EVERYTHING AND ONE IN IT!!!!!!!

Anti-gay Christians want the special right to discriminate. They want special rights based on their [heterosexual] sexual behaviors. They want the special right to marry, adopt, hold a job, serve in the military, obtain health benefits, worship in their churches, and visit their dying partner in the hospital based upon their sexual behavior. I don't believe they should have special rights based upon the sex of the person they sleep with.

Speaking as a Catholic, fundamentalists do not know the difference between normative homosexuality - homosexual behavior was a norm in the ancient world, meaning almost everyone practiced it - and constitutional homosexuality, which refers to individuals who are constitutionally homosexual, most likely as a result of mere hormones. The Church spelled out the distinction in a 1969 Papal Bull (decree) issued by Pope Paul VI. It affirmed that Paul's remarks in Romans are in reference to casual, normative homosexuality, and this is why he addresses the issue in a letter to the Romans, who were particularly prone to normative homosexuality even by the standards of the ancient world. It does not refer to constitutional homosexuals. Fundamentalists constantly misinterpret the scripture because they lack education, guidance or any sense of historical context. We don't really have normative homosexuality today, except in a few Asian countries, where it is just as prone to exploitation of boys as it has ever been. Constitutional homosexuals do not tend to engage in such exploitative behavior; officially,we regard it homosexuality as a mere venial sin, always forgiveable, while completely condemning normative homosexuality as the plaything of jaded heterosexuals. You cannot explain to a fundie what normative homosexuality is - or was in the ancient world - because they simply lack the education. Thank you for addressing your question specifically to fundamentalists instead of slurring all Christians as anti-gay bigots. I appreciate your using specific terminology in addressing Christians. As we see,it helps a lot.
Gay marriage, however,is not condoned by the Church, although at a grass-roots level there is much support for civil unions. American Catholics have not opposed gay marriage organizationally. Should other states follow the example of Massachusetts,we may expect American Catholics to be split along purely political lines.

The whole idea behind marriage is so you can legally have children together. Especially back in the day, you better not even dream of having a child unwed, if you did you were an outcast and labeled a harlot. 2 men or 2 women cannot ever have children of their own. Adopting doesn't count. What you want to do is a perversion of the very union of a man and a women called marriage. If you choose to live that lifestyle, why in God's name do you have to pervert our traditional values for your selfish, immoral needs?

G.C......dear, you say "give us more than bible verses". Fundamentalists are people who believe the bible. That is what I try to live my life by. Homosexuality is a sin. Plain and simple. You will never convince bible believing Christians otherwise. You have the freedom to believe what you choose, so do I.

You know if people were to stop for one moment and really think about gays and their demands, we wouldn't have the gay problem we have today, those that support and condone gay marriage today in my opinion have simply taken leave of their moral intelligence and common sense, for two men to commit such an act is simply the lowest form of being that walks on two legs in my view. may God have mercy on their perverted souls.
