I am looking to buy my first car, and I have narrowed it down to two.
So, which is better:
A 1996 Eclipse GS for $1,000
or a 1987 Dodge Shadow for $695?
I am looking for something that is good on gas, that performs good, and that is at least a little cute.

Depends on the car mileage condition how was it driven. What is the overall condition. tires, If a teen own for get it.Older person you have a chance . There so many thing to look at. What shape is the interior is it clean or warn out.Best to by the newest 1 unless the 87 a cream puff an low Miles. Get a mechanic to look what ever you buying or it might be a money pit???

The Elipse, its a more recent car so will be more reliable mechanically and is worth the extra money.

Dodge Shadow, if it has a turbo watch out. Actually i'm guessing it will still suck.

i don't like Japanese cars ..but in this case it is the better choice
