I'm fed up eating creamed rice out of cans and pre-packed noodles, i feel the need to diversify. My cooking limitations extend to making pancakes and the occasional burger and pizza (healty I know). I need a new type of food that won't take too long to make (15 mins at max) and that I'll be able to throw in the microwave and heat it, not put it in the oven or on the pan (there was an incident with oil on the pan a while ago). Just something short simple and nice, preferably editable. Can anyone help?

best thing for you to do is invest $15 into a George Foreman grill....you can find them in any local store (walmart, target, etc.) You can cook any meat in 10-15mins flat.....just spray a little pam on the grill, season your choice of meat and throwit on the grill....no need to flip the meat...just turn off the machin when done....another easy trick for the sides is get some instant rice, chicken broth and instant mashed potatoes...cook the instant rice in the chicken broth....tastes great just like that...if you would like variety on the rice I love to add a flavored cream cheese to the rice after its cooked...a great flavor is chives....now the instant mashed potatoes I like to use milk instead of water and I add garlic to the water while its boiling.....now you can do both of these in the microwave they should have the directions on the box...or if you like you could buy a small rice cooker when you get the george foreman grill....they cost around $5-8 and they couldnt be easier....I guarentee you will love it and its quick and easy.
Lastly if you like veggies again the best trick is to cook the veggies in chicken broth....just chop up broccoli or whatever veggie you would like and add 1/2 cup chicken broth and cover bowl with plastic wrap...cook for 4-5 mins in microwave and let the bowl stay covered for 2 more minutes....
So to wrap up: buy a george foreman grill, a rice cooker if you would like and buy cans of chicken broth, instant rice and instant potatoes...cheap, easy, fast and yummy!!

Thats hilarious. An irish guy who can't cook, never saw that one coming. Can't use the stove at all? Just a microwave? Thats tough. Hmm... I would switch to sandwiches and get over your fear of the pan. After that I can help you. My poor fellow irishman, what a sad state.

I know! Potatoes! You can bake those in the microwave, just don't use any foil, or you'll have a little incident with your microwave too.

I buy salmon fillets at Sams Club/Costco in the frozen foods section. My microwave has a defrost setting based on the weight of the item. I always set defrost to be .3 of a pound and then microwave of high fro 2 minutes. I season the salmon with either Old Bay seasoning - or a lemon pepper. So the fish cooks in 5- 6 minutes. I place fish on top of the bagged salad and add my favorite dressing. healthy dinner in usually less than 10 minutes!

I found a cheescake recipe this weekend that was out of this world, took almost no time to prepare, wasn't expensive to make, and looked like I'd worked all day.

German Chocolate Swirled Cheescake

In a small bowl, beat 2 packages of cream chees with 2/3 cup of sugar till smooth. Add two beaten eggs. Combine till smooth. Add two teaspoons vanilla. Mix well. Set aside 2/3 cup of this mixture. Melt one Germans Sweet Chocolate Bars in your microwave. (30 second bursts, stir in between). Pour cheescake mixture into pie pan. Add melted chocolate to 2/3 cup reserve mixture. Pour over mixture in pie pan. Take table knife and swirl through. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Let cool 15 minutes. Loosen edges with knife. Put in fridge at least 2 hours. Eat and enjoy.

Salads and vegetable marinades can really help - they require no cooking skills and you can add things to them that are ready prepared for quick healthy meals - for example if you like chicken buy the precooked fillet in the deli or in the luncheon aisle and toss it into your salad cold or heat it and serve with a side of the marinaded vegetables either cold or heated with the meat. Good Luck!

You can get pre packaged state fair corn dogs that take 20 minutes if you bake them and like 2 minutes if you microwave them, they are available at most grocery stores. There's always really good frozen dinners that take like ten minutes tops and come in tons of different varietys. I would say just frozen food section your most likely find something really good and really easy thats not low quality.

buy a few packages of those skillet dinners in the prepared food aisles. those Zatarain dinners are good, especially the jambalaya and dirty rice. all you do is add meat to it if you want. it cooks fast too. or, you can buy some packages of brats or italian sausages and saute them until brown and then throw some sliced onions to the pan...simple and good.
