I'm new to golfing, what do use a 6 iron for?

A 6 iron is used in various situations. It's usually used for a shot about 170-180 yards for me. You might hit it a different distance than me so you should go to a local driving range and figure out about how far you hit each club and then play the club that fits when you're out on the golf course.

If you are an average golfer, a 6 iron will allow you to reach a par 3 hole of about 155 to 170 yards if you hit it well. Or in the case of by buddy, to miss the green for a chance to win the big home town tournament, and use it to pound over a tree. Ha, thats golf.

Use the 6 iron when you are not in the fairway and have 150 yards to go.
