I work for a team, and they are usually on the field. So the best way for me to communicate something is by text. Lately, one of them had been replied back in capital letters. If there is something that he doesn't like he sends me text like that. I had been working for them for almost 6 years, and time to time any of them start treating me very demanding. I had been very supportive of them, 'cause I need the job. But lately, I feel confused and sometimes even ignored, or just bellitled. Last week, I had to take my husband to the airport, and I was late. I was very reprimended over the phone. But they never take in consideration, that even when is my break time, I do answer his phone calls, or on weekends or late at nite. Sometimes I work overtime, without being paid for that. I though that time may could compensate for that. They are going under a lot of stress, but I don't think I have to pay a share of that, too. Is this a signal that I should start looking for another job?

Your boss is an asshole. To completely answer your question, i'll need to know what you do. But not knowing, i've got a few answers.

1. Maybe you should be looking for a new job. You seem to be a very hard worker. So put your resume on monster, and look for one of the new types of companies, run by people who care about their employees.

2. Or, if your boss/teammates don't appreciate you, don't give them something they don't deserve. Working extra with no recognation is something that bothers alot of people. So exert the effort that's necessary, and nothing more.

Whenever this occurs again my suggestion would be to tell them this. You understand that of course being on time is important. Then remind them that you do still work during your breaks and also work unpaid overtime so in consideration of that you hope that they can extend you the courtesy of understanding when you have a rare personal emergency/issue to deal with.

It's hard to say if you should look. It seems like you aren't totally appreciated. Some people overlook that if money, location, hours, etc. are good. Real estate is a tough field these days and you may be an undeserving victim of their stress levels.

yes, or you need to talk to them about it, but you might want to look for another job first. they're real estate agents so they don't make money unless they produce, and it doesn't seem like they have a heavy stream of clients, or maybe it's a tough time, but that's often the nature of the business, look at your original job description and if taking calls, etc at all hours of the night is not on it, perhaps say to them that you really can't and were under the impression you wouldn't have to, and you fear it's becoming detrimental to your work, but it also seems like you're some sort of executive/administrative/personal assistant, which is dangerous because if you won't do the work, they might just find someone else who will

They are under a lot of stress?Perhaps part of that stress is trying to make payroll.

Did you TELL them you were going to be late because you had to take your husband to the airport???
Yes, perhaps it would be best if you did find another job.

your phone expenses can be tax deductible if you use it mostly for employment.. compute the percentage used every month and add it to your employment expenses.. that's one good thing you can get out of the trouble..
