I cant say I've heard nice things about Vista( my friend said it was hard to use my next OS will be Ubuntu/linux)
and listen to corey many of your software and hardware may be incompatible

about $499.99- US currency...but just to let you know Vista isn't compatable with alot of the modern technological items. I just went and got a vista myself and had to take it back right away b/c the printer didn't work with it and my MP3 Player didn't even work on it! If you want a vista, I would wait a few years until they get all the glitches out of it first... Good Luck!
