This isn't going to be a fancy answer.. but the bottom line is.. as long as people are paying that kind of money, they will keep charging it.... it does suck though bc I love starbucks but it's too expensive to drink too often.

There are really two answers to this question, first of all everything that has to do with a frappuccino is hand made ( and i pain in the as to clean up if you spill it haha) and its made fresh every day now with that being said the only thing that goes into coffee based frappuccinos are water, coffee grounds, and milk so it doesnt cost that much for the ingredients , where the real price comes in is ITS STARBUCKS man thats one things i love about my job people go in there an pay 4 bucks for steamed milk and two shots of espresso that they can make themselfs for half the price, starbucks is and always will be expensive thats the beauty of being the best

The reason is because it is "Starbucks". They could charge $10 for a cup of coffee and people would still pay. Starbucks is the largest importer of coffee in the world, they have huge power in the coffee industry. Discount cards mean nothing to them. They sold over $7 million in gift cards last year and only $1 million were redeemed - and easy $6 million profit, not bad. Starbucks is a master of marketing and branding, they know all the little things, such as round tables instead of square tables -??? they found round tables make the shops look busier, weird things like that. Nothing wrong with selling what the people want.

Truly, there's more behind the scenes work to make a Frappuccino that you know... the mix/base has to be shipped to Starbucks, then the barista has to prepare the mix. The drink itself is actually one of the most labor intensive drinks, ask any worker of Starbucks, they'll tell you....
On top of all that goes into making the drink... there's the name behind the drink... Starbucks CAN charge that much because you will still, despite the complaints, go in and buy your drink... it's the quality/atmosphere/name that you are paying for.

Good question. I'm wondering too.
The Frappuccino might have been a hip, new drink 10 years ago, but it's old news now. I think people are paying more for the name Starbucks that comes on the cup than the drink.

Well, *one* of us doesn't and won't pay that kind of price for any beverage that doesn't feature a hefty amount of alcohol. I think the McDonald's iced coffees are a whole lot better than Starbucks and cost about a fourth as much.

What I find really funny is that people have no problem paying $4+ for a Frappuccino, but they are OUTRAGED at having to pay more than $2 a gallon for gasoline.

Welcome to business economy and the law of supply and demand the more your demand is the more you can charge for it. As long as we fork over the $4 they will charge it.
My solution - make your own:
Moca Frappuccino
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
1 tablespoon granulated sugar, plus
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/3 cup strong coffee
1 cup ice
in a blender, combine everything but the ice, and blend until sugar has dissolved.
add ice and blend until smooth (sometimes you will need a bit more ice).
