If you place it in a cooler/chest with ice, some water, and SALT. I watched this on MythBusters and the salt causes it to be 10 degrees colder than just ice and water.

It was the quickest way to chill things between ice, ice and water, freezer, and ice/water/salt.

There are two ways: both take 15 - 25 minutes:

1. Place it in the freezer, next to the fan.

2. Fill an ice bucket halfway with ice, then fill with cold water until the bucket is 3/4 full. Add one handful of salt. Insert the bottle. Moving the bottle inside the ice in a stirring motion will speed the cooling as well.

Tips & Warnings:
Many people put wine in the freezer to chill it quickly. Although this works, it can be tough on more delicate wines.

It takes 2 hours to chill a bottle in the refrigerator and a bit more than 1 hour in ice alone.

White wines, champagnes and rosé wines (which have a pink color) are commonly served chilled. Red wines are served at room temperature, although if it's hot out, you might chill the wine in the refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes, then leave it on the counter for 10 minutes to warm up.

If you want to preserve the nuances of the wine, then you want to chill it in a bucket filled with water and ice. The water will be at the temperature of the ice and help chill the beverage in about 20 minutes.

The fastest way that I've used to chill anything, is a can of freeze spray. It contains liquid nitrogen and it takes as little as 10 seconds to chill a can of soda. I've also used it re-solidify melted chocolate candy bars.

In a large vessel filled with ice, water and salt (kosher or rock is best) then cover with a towel to reduce dripping from the condensation - turn the bottle every 7-10 minutes and it should be well chilled in about 30. Good Luck!

Champagne - 30-40 minutes DO not forget about it though, it will explode after 40 haha!

White wine - Chill on ice. Perfection.

Bucket of ICE WATER. The ice privides the cold environment....the water, a substance with a high thermal conductivity (for you engineer/physics geeks) will work to pull the heat out and away from the bottle faster than ice alone. Works faster than a freezer too.

Get a bucket fill with one third cold water, one third ice, and then add salt. This will dissoolve the ice thus dropping the temperature of the water more quickly.

Do not use warm or hot water, because although the ice will melt quicker, the amibent temperature of the water will go up accordingly.

If you have a wine bucket, putting it in ice water cools faster than just ice, and either is faster than putting it in the fridge. Be careful, though, because it's easy to get it too cold.

Put some ice in a tub, put the bottle in, and spin the bottle in the ice, the spinning action speeds up the chilling process.
