Eat first ... A full stomach will slow the absorption of the drinks.
Alternate between alcoholic and non-alc. drinks. I'll have a beer, then a coke, then another beer. Or get a glass of water and sip on both. A little wine, a drink of water .. another sip of wine.. etc
Stay away from shots.

Nurse your drink and also order a glass of water with lemon and sip that as you drink. Also you wouldn't want to get a whiskey on the rocks or some other hard liquor, try something sweet and fruity but has a little kick. Mojito's, Daiquiri's, etc, sometimes you can ask the bartender to hook u up something special. A martini, if you want to be brave, would be ok, sip slow, sip the water and if you order a 2nd don't drink it all unless you can handle it. Above all rules, make sure that you eat. If not a meal something filling that can absorb the alcohol. So have fun and hopefully you don't end up "bottoms up"!!All the best.

This is what I do. I drink a beer (or drink) then a glass of water, then another beer, than water. I pee alot but i rarely ever get drunk and I ALWAYS eat something at the end of the night so i don't get sick when i get home and i'm not a mess when i wake up in the morning. AND, if someone buys you a shot and you don't really want it but don't want to sound rude, drink the shot and then "pretend" to take a quick drink of your beer and slowly spit the shot into the beer. If your beer is too full it might make it errupt but if its not, noone will notice. Just don't drink that beer after!!! LOL. Good luck!!

Drinking on an empty stomach has the alcohol take effect easier. Also, the more often you drink the higher a tolerance you get. So it may just be that you're drinking often enough that your body is simply getting used to it. So don't eat before drinking, and/or drink less often for the alcohol to be more effective.

I've done that too... last year I barely drank.
But when I go out I try to eat right before I go... You should have something with carbohydrate, something that can absorb the alcohol that you're in-taking.
Also... what everyone else has told you, don't drink too fast, because if you do, even if you've had a good meal it always screws you up...
I hope this helps and have a wonderful night with your friends!
Take Care :-)

Make sure you eat before going out to coat your stomach. Then drink drinks that are not very strong, if you drink beer Miller Lite does not have as much alcohol as others for example. Drink slowly and pace yourself. If you drink mixed drinks drink things with a lower alcohol content. You can also alternate between alcoholic drinks and nonalcoholic drinks.
Have fun, and don't drive!

Stay away from hard liquor. Have some beers or those girly colorful drinks.
Stick to low percents.
Dont chug your drinks. Take it slow and steady.
Drink lots of water, and eat lots of food.

I think drinking with or after a meal can slow down the effects of alcohol. Drink sensibly, not to much and drink slowly.

Eat something with bread (like a sandwhich) before you go out. It also never hurts to have a glass of water, it helps you to slow down your drinking, and metabolize the alcohol faster.

do not drink fast and choose things that have less alcohol in them. do not take shots. beer is always a good bet but if you don't like that you just have to limit your drinks because liquor drinks tend to taste better and get you drunk faster.
