It's been going on for about a month. The other 2 dogs are fine. The vet wants to see him for "observation". Any ideas to what is wrong.

The dog is 5 years old and has never done this before. We have lived in the same house for 3 years. Same food since he was a baby.

Labrador Sneezing

A lady I work with also has a black lab funny enough and he had that happen when he was younger. On him what it turned out to be was that he was allergic to the food that they were feeding him so they have to feed him a special type of food now. Labs are very sensitive. I also have a black lab and a chocolate lab.

Allergies, I would guess. Or, there is something in or around your house that he can smell, but you can't, and it bothers his nose.

Dogs' sense of smell is incredibly superior to ours. And, they can be sensitive to things we don't even know are there. My toy fox terrier likes to chase bees (okay, so he's a dumbass). When he catches them, he paws at them and sniffs them.

The pheremones that the bee gives out cause the dog to drool and sneeze uncontrollably for a couple of minutes. Then he starts pawing at the bee again. I usually have to take it away from him to get him to stop.

Anyway, the vet should be able to figure it out.

Check your dogs ears. They may be infected. I just heard from a person who said that his dogs was sneezing like crazy also and he took the dog to the vet and it had severly infected ears. Made the dogs sinus swell up really badly. thats why the dog was sneezing so much.

May be the same with your dog.

if he doesn't sneeze at the vets, then he is probably allergic to something in your home.

If he does sneeze at the bets, he may be sick, or have something caught or tickling his nose or airway.

first thing that comes to mind is something in the nose. Could it be a dreaded foxtail?
