My best friend has lost a lot of weight recently. I asked her how she has done it and she finally admitted she barely eats 250 calories a day and exercises for 2 hours a day. She doesnt think she is doing anything wrong as she says she has never felt faint or ill. Will she get ill? What can i do? This has been going on for about 2 months.

she could die soon so you need to talk to an adult about it even if she begged you not to. in the meantime encourage her to eat more whenever u meet her and try to explain to her that she could gain a lot of weight one day because her body is in the "starvation mode" and will cling on to any calories it gets. maybe that'll convince her to do it a little healthier.

You need to try to get her to a counselor, one that specializes in eating disorders. My sister got thin really fast because of not eating and bulimia. She looked sickly and was very tired & cold all the time. She is in counseling now and is doing better.

Your friend will get sick and it also can cause permanent damage. If she loses all her fat, her body will start burning muscle, which includes the heart.
The only problem is that no one can make her go unless she is under 18, and then a parent might be able to.
If you are still in high school or college, go to the campus counselor or guidence person for help.
If not, there are probably help lines listed in the yellow pages under counseling. Or call the local hospital for a counseling center nearby.
Hope this helps!

I'd ask her if she has a bottom line with this extreme stress she is putting on her body? I mean have you asked her if there is an end point? Ask her if she understands her body needs a palm size piece of meat or protein a day to not get into trouble. Tell her fat John Candy died of that. Her bottom line should be 1200 calories, most likely. She should remain hydrated. So, hey where's she at?As a friend, I'd feed her myself a healthy low cal meal, and as you give her each bite of food tell her how much you love her as your friend and how she is a beautiful person inside and out. Lay hugs on her, and be there as often as you can. Encourage others to help her love herself by being loving. Open those communication doors.
