One thing that drives me nuts as a parent is all the "stuff" we have and how much more we get every time there is a birthday.
I think the best gifts and really practical since she is so young is that you can buy 1 share of disney stock (or other company) or some other sort of money gift that is also an investment.

We buy the kids in our famliy books. For a 1 yr old, board books.

Since she's only a year, I wouldn't spend a lot of money on whatever you decide to get. She'll never remember it.
How about a t-shirt with "Best God-Daughter" on it.

A baby-doll or some other toy, just look in the toy secton for babys at Wal-mart or Target.

its different for each child. it also depends on what the parents r ok w/. so ask the mom what they think she would like!! I mother always knows best

If you know her favorite cartoon then you can go to any toy store and fint it there.
