When my house cat was about 7 months old, she suddenly became very hostile to me. I got her as a kitten and never let her outside. She just went feral like. I could not touch her for months then one day she was loving again. Is this common or a possible mental condition?

DId you take her to the vet to see if she had some other health condition that would be causing discomfort? Did you have her spayed? If she went into heat, it could be personality altering. Also, if an animal is in pain, it can have a significant effect on their personality.

We had the same problem with a little male kitty we got. Every time he was touched he'd go psycho and bite and scratch us. His tail and skin on his back would twitch and he'd chew his feet. Turns out he had a neurological problem that when touched the nerves would rapidly misfire creating the feeling of pain. The vet said to put him on Prozac or wait to see if it goes away. We opted for no drugs. He still had "episodes" occasionally but calmed down alot. Consult your vet with all the behaviors you see just to be sure it isn't something serious.

Probably just mood swings, a mental condition, or a sign of going into heat. My advice, next time you get another cat, love it all the time so it becomes natural. Other than that, get a dog. They are loyal and loving to you no matter what month it is!

He sounds effective. between the main serious issues with feral cats is to stay calm. He sees you as his relatives because of the fact he brings you nutrition (the ineffective issues), marks you as his by rubbing against you and asks you for nutrition. Couple of issues we discovered as quickly as we accompanied a 4-wk previous deserted kitty. on no account mindset petting him in direction of the face. he will experience threatened. continuously puppy him on the shoulder first and then artwork your thank you to his head. once you %. him up continuously be valuable to assist his hind ft. That way he feels greater guard than if his legs are dangling. Kindness is the biggest. Animals incredibly can choose human beings's character and he would be perpetually grateful on your loved ones for taking him in, yet he additionally won't lose that solid protecting survival instinct he has. As for leaping on ft and issues, i do no longer think of a few cats ever advance out of their fascination with issues that flow.

Possibly, but I'd suspect extreme pain first. Animals rarely do a complete 180 in temperment without something being a problem at the core.

The kitten probably went into heat (like a period for humans) Their hormones are wacky during this time, which is when they typically breed if outdoors. It explains why she has returned to normal. Get her spayed, even indoor cats benefit from this procedure.

It is hard to say at 7mos. That is still considered the kitten stage and unusual behavoir is not uncommon. I would just wait and see if it happens again before I worry about it too much.
