I know at least 5 people will say "The Bible".

For me it was The Dark Materials trilogy. It's hard to explain why it was so life changing, but it just really opened up a part of my brain that had been dormant for so long. It was almost a spiritual experience.

"When Bad Things Happen to Good People" by Harold Kushner. He has several other excellent books too.

I would say the Bible, but I have studied it more in depth rather than just reading it.

I am not LDS, but I also think the Book of Mormon is an excellent read. Mormons are good family people who tend to live productive lives. there are lesons to be learned from them.

"The Finest Hour: The Battle of Britain" by Tim Clayton and Phil Craig...a very powerful and moving book.

By the way, why is this question posted under "Religion & Spirituality"? What does this have to do with religion? Wouldn't a better place to ask this be the "Literature" catagory??

"Thief in the Night" by William Sears

A eternal search by a searching soul(William Sears, when he was a famous radio sports commentator of 1950s) and his search for Case of the Missing Millenium.

It is a easy read, and a wonderful illustration. Words so subtle and thrilling that the facts(observed by everyone in the world) and his words are so simple to understand. I believe it is beautiful, atleast it is worth a read once. I have read it many times.

Dizzie Gillespie(the famous Jazz Player) bought so many copies of "Thief in the Night"(Bill Sears) and gave it to all many people(his friends) whoever he can.

"Return to Manzanar"

I had to read this for HS English Lit and it made me realize that there is a lot that happens in our history as Americans that never gets included in our history classes and that the government tries to sweep under the rug. It made me look at everything with a more critical eye.
