Can i exchange for american @ the bank> If not, where? I am in Buffalo NY and not allowed over the border

Most financial institutions will NOT exchange coinage in one currency for coinage in another.

The exception to this is if the coinage amounts to a significant dollar value (usually more than $10 in the local currency equivalent ... which means you'd need to be carrying about $10 Canadian in coins to get them to even look at you).

banks, especially near the border, should.

If not, you should be able to find currency exchanges near malls/places Canadians would go(look in the yellow pages) or at the airport.

I've lived in Plattsburgh (near Quebec), and we have lots of places. Buffalo's a much larger place; I'm sure you can find places easily.
