They were both enlightened, spread their beliefs through teachings and showed great compassion for others. If you go to amazon.com you will see several books written about the parallels of Jesus and Buddha.

There might be things in common, but Virgin Birth is definitely not one of them.

Some interpretations of the life story of the Buddha attribute his birth to a virgin birth. This is likely due to a specific interpretation of the prophetic dream Queen Māyā is said to have had prior to conception and is not a widely held view amongst Buddhists. As she is described to have been married to King Śuddhodhana for many years, there is no indication that she would have been a virgin at the time of Siddhārtha's conception. Nonetheless, this interpretation has lead to parallels being drawn with the birth story of Jesus.

They were both very wise and compassionate. They both taught that worldly possessions/desire is the source of unhappiness. Buddha taught that he was not the ultimate source of truth, but just a person. Buddha also taught there would be a greater man that would come after him. If you follow the strict teachings of either man it will lead you to a happier life.

Their doctrines, both say that the way to end suffering is to have compassion for sentient beings. I kind of believe (which I know I will have bad feedback from this), that when the Jesus isn't mentioned in the Bible between the years of 11 and 31 (I think), he may have very well gone to India and learned Buddhism and took some of those ideas back with him. But, that is only a theory.....

Look at the Ten Commandments and the Eightfold path. Can you see any major differance.

NOTE: Please be intelligent enough (I'm talking to the audience in general) to actually look it up before you comment. Last time I mentioned this people came up with answers without even knowing what I was refering to.
