I have a before mentioned 1998 Ford Mustang GT. And when the gas gets low the low fuel light never turns on.

I mean does it not even have one or could it be blowned. When the gas gets low it will go the the E and just sit there while I drive. I've gone probaly 40 or more miles(haven't gone any further just in case it does run out of gas) while it's been really close or even on the E part.

Does the engine just take alot of gas and make it go lower while i'm drving or what, but when I turn it off it will go back up to like half way between a quarter and the E mark.

Idk what to do, i'm afraid i'm gonna just run out of gas one time. THNX everyone.

Also hoe much does the gas tank hold?

When it is supposedly low, not ever sure because of the light but when it seems low It ends up taking about 15 galls or so. So does it have 16 or like a 17 gallon tank. It cost 42 dollars last week when the price of gas was 2.99 and I put 15 gallon in or soemthing.

well you could have a problem with the float in the tank or you dont have a fuel light.

Insurance will be high. But if you can swing that, it's not a bad choice. LOL@Kritter You think a V6 Mustang "guzzles" gas? When I was 16 I had an old F-100 with a 390 4bbl swapped in. It got about 8-10 MPG, no offense man, but you don't know what a "gas guzzler" truly is. . Coincidentally the 1998 Mustang GT gets about 0.5-1.0 MPG less than a 2005 Mustang V6. There's very little difference there.

I'm sure it does, but try and not use it. You are going to need gas so why not keep some in the tank?? I know it is expensive now but it is cheaper than calling a tow truck to bring you a gallon.

If the owner's manual is in the glove box, look at it and the dashboard layout and it will show you where the light is located. good luck.

Look when you turn the key on look to the left on the cluster ans look at all the lights if you see a low fuel light then you have one , It really has to get to the (E) mark in order for it to come on , Hope this helps.

It's a 15.4 gallon tank. Really best not to allow it to get so low though.
