i was wondering how my salary ranks to others in the US because salaries are private topics like the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. So i was just wondering.....

i am a practicing family doctor in the US, making about $150,000 each year, working 72 hours over 2 weeks.

how does the salary rank to median in the US, pls state your opinion about this salary and what state you are in

I'm not a doctor so I can't honestly answer your question. However, I will say that most Dr.'s in Illinois work from 8am-5pm, make their rounds at the hospital which usually takes about 2 hours, then they are done until the next day. So that is about a 10 hour day, minus any unexpected emergencies that might happen throughout any given night. Comparing your hours, you are only working approximately 36 hours a week. So if you break $150,000.00 down to monthly wages, then weekly wages, and lastly hourly wage, you are making approximately $86.81 per hour. But you don't say if you are in private practice, in with a group of Doctors, or if you are employed at a hospital. Nor do you state how long you have been a doctor. But my opinion, you are making plenty if you are just starting out. The medical field is a noble profession providing you got in to for the right reasons and not just for the money.

From national statistics that I've heard on television in recent years, your income is fairly typical for your occupation. In fact, it might be slightly on the higher end of average. One should note, however, that salaries can vary significantly from one region to another.
