Just wondering.

Earl D-no it would not bug me, I'd find it extraordinary that I'd been brainwashed, and done my own thinking to such a wrong conclusion. It still wouldn't make me worship God.

Mikalina, yes I know, but that's 20 answers at a time, hardly a representative spectrum of views.

Yes, there are people who believe that the world is young, even though there is evidence against said idea...Yes there HAS been recordings of ancient history before that 6,000 year period...let me see, 6,000 years ago would be...aroud 4,007 years ago right? Well, isn't that when the Trojan War happened...and some Greek history springs up? I'm not sure, but maybe...or at the least cave paintings...And as for proving the scientific fact of a 6 or so billion year Earth, give me some facts on it, where did the oil that you put in your vehicles come from? And why do you believe that Dinosaurs lived with us? So they mentioned it in the Bible, (Leviathan, some sort of Beast...etc.) That could have been one.) A Whale, two, eel, three, anything..and the "great beasts' could have been giraffes we don't know...anyway, yes there are people in the world who think that we're standing on a 6,000 or so piece of rock that's floating around an equally young universe...I think it's kinda stupid but that's me, I mean, the Christians thought that the world was the center of the universe (egotistical huh?) that the world was flat (some people STILL believe that too huh?) And that the sky was a big dome (well, we proved that one wrong, unless you people still believe that one...) So there's been many things that were disproven and stuff...it's a never ending cycle....

For the most part, Orthodox Jews believe that the world is 5,767 years old. That doesn't mean that they believe that the world was created in 7 24-hour periods. We believe that G-d had to create time as well (ask your favorite quantum physics professor to explain that one), and that the world was created before time. As for Carbon dating, etc. we believe that when G-d created the world, it was like someone painting a picture of a ninety-year old man. The man may be 90, but the painting is 20-minutes old (or whatever). So too here, where G-d created the world 5,767 years ago, but he created a 5,000,000,000 year old world (or whatever). Yes, it's a belief, I can't physically prove that (although others can, see above), but that should answer your question.

Yes. I believe that the Earth is about 6,000 years old, and that the dinosaurs lived before the Flood.
I used to be an atheist and evolutionist for 20 years before I actually studied creation science and came to the conclusion that they were right after all.
I would suggest a very good read for you, which is "The Evolution Cruncher" by Vance Ferrell. It contains about 5,000 scientific facts and quotes from various scientists (many of which are evolutionists) which prove that the Earth cannot be millions of years old and that evolution is physically and mathematically impossible.

Yes there are.
I saw a documentary made by a Christian geologist who claimed that the earth is quite young by studying the grand canyon's layers and explained why the carbon dating system is wrong.
Personally, I couldn't care less how old the earth is =0)
It was here long before I was, and will be long after I'm gone.

I do not know about 'creationists, but man has been on Earth about 6000 years (more precisely 5767 years). As for Earth, be careful about creation; it may have been more than 6-24 hour periods; especially days 1,2, and 3.

Actually, most traditional creationists (sometimes called "young earth creationists") believe the world is 8,000-10,000 years old.

There are plenty of tradtional creationists out there, as well as many traditional creationist scientists (astronomers, geophysicists, biologists, etc.), albeit not in the numbers represented by naturalists or the so-called "progressive" creationists.

Apparently, they devoted an entire museum to the idea.

This museum building was built entirely on donations! And you cannot work there unless you believe it 100%.

They interviewed some people after leaving, and they certainly sound like the believe the entire thing.

Sad really!

It really is scary and a little embarasiing to think that there are some who really do believe this. Never mind the fact that several other cultures have recorded history since before the bible states the earth was created, and all seem to also have kept on recording history right through that "global flood".

The universe was created in 6000 years

since then about 3-7 thousand years have passed

That would put the universe somewhere around 9000-13000 years old

Yes. I believe the Earth to be about 6,000 years old and yes I have researched it.

There is evidence for a young earth, so I do not believe in the false teachings of some scientists concerning and older Earth.
