For a while I have been having the same symptoms as diabetes (tiredness, shaking, sweating, dizziness), so I went to get a diabetes test done (the finger blood test). The test results were negative.
I've recently heard of hypoglycemia, could this be what I am suffering from?

They can't do a blood test by sticking the finger to diagnose diabetes. It takes a lot more tests than one and a glucose tolerance test would usually be the test of choice. The sticking finger test is like a snap shot and only shows the results of that one period of time. Hypoglycemia is when one has a low sugar level in the blood and this can be remedied by drinking a glass of orange juice or eating anything that contains sugar. You can also become hypoglycemic even if you're not diabetic. Not eating enough carbs/sugar plus strenous work or working out can cause it.

yes it is possible to suffer from Hypoglycemia, but not be diabetic as accepted by the medical fraternity,it would help you if you knew whether your test result showed a low value ,rather than just stating "negative".
my husband is diabetic ,it runs in his family, and he gets those syptoms when his blood sugar level is below about 4 mm/l u.k. values
Next time you get the syptoms try a couple of sweet biscuits,
it usually takes 10 minutes to kick in,if that improves you ,
you know the answer.hope this has helped

Yes, but is not easy to confirm and is probably over-diagnosed. Actually, you have to do a blood sugar test at the time you are symptomatic. The body's regulatory mechanisms kick in, so that your blood sugar may be normal by the time you drive to the lab.
Some doctors recommend a six hour fasting glucose tolerance test with plasma insulin levels. That's a fair hassle factor with considerble expense. Perhaps there are now easier and more reliable methods.
Keep in touch with your doctor if these symptoms persist.

It's possible, but true hypoglycemia in the absence of diabetes is rare. Next time you have this feeling, drink some juice - if the feeling goes away within a few minutes it might be hypoglycemia because the juice will bring your blood sugar up rapidly..

It could be hypoglycemia, yes. I have a former gym teacher who had that, and she said the symptoms were very alike.
Or it could be a number of other things, up to an including cancer.
Good luck finding out what it is!

I think you should get your thyroid checked.
The symptoms are common to many conditions, could even be stress related.
