Tell them you have learned a lot, but it's just not working out. You have another job already lined up (make sure you really do), and you would be available to stay on in a limited capacity to tie-up any loose ends (even if they don't want you to, it's just common courtesy).
The whole "two week's notice" does not apply in most states. Do all the thinking ahead of time about any benefits, retirement plans, etc so you don't quit and then get anxious about these items.

Even for a job handling confidential information, that is just plain bizarre and unprofessional. Knowing their policy on giving notice, the best (and most professional) thing you can do is just write them a nice resignation letter. Tell them how great it has been to work there, but a new opportunity has presented itself, and you are leaving. Compliment them and their professionalism. Tell them everything you have learned from your experience. Mention in the letter that your resignation is effective immediately, as per the company's policy. Hand it in at the end of your last day, give everyone a hug, and move on. That's life, and it is not your fault their resignation policy is so weird.

Write a nice resignation letter letting them know that you've enjoyed your time there, the work environment, the job and/or whatever else you enjoyed. Let them know you're pursuing another opportunity and give them two weeks notice. As you stated, it's likely they'll ask you to leave immediately, but that is up to them and you've done your part by giving notice in case they need it.

If you know they will ask you to leave immediately (and they don't give severance pay), wait until you're ready to leave and on that day tell your supervisor how much you have enjoyed working there and thank you for the opportunity, but you have decided to leave because of another opportunity. If you aren't given the chance to say goodbye to your coworkers, have an email prepared to send to them.

go to your boss and tell them you are giving your two week notice. Tell them you really appreciate the oppurtunity they have given you. A letter of appreciation may also be in order. If They ask why you are quitting tell them you just think its time to move on. If they ask if you have found another job. Be honest and tell them yes.

Get a written commitment from the job to be, and then give notice at your present job with 2 weeks notice. ~
Also, tell your old boss, they may call you if things come up that they can't quite handle because you did it.

The BEST way to do this is stick strictly to business. Write a resignation letter and simply say, you are resigning as of . Do not explain why or where you are going. Then close the letter with a word of thanks.
Then hand it over to the boss in person.
The less you say is better.

Go give your employer a letter that says I must resign my job for your reasons then say at the end of the letter when you will leave the job and when you want your last paycheck.

write a positive slanted self termination letter, let them know you have enjoyed your time with the company and wish them well, but you have been offered a great position and you are extending them a two week notice.
if you let this control you, you'll never move ahead in life.
