Okay, here is what I would suggest.
Drain pineapple, reserving liquid
In a sauce pan, mix 1/4 cup soy sauce and reserved pineapple juice. Put over very low heat. Baste ham frequently. Liquid will slowly thicken.
When ham has about a half hour left, heat melt some butter over med-low heat. Add 1/2 cup brown sugar until melted. Add brown sugar mixture to basting liquid along with half of reserved pineapple. Heat until thick. With about 15 minutes to go, spread glaze liberally over ham.
When ham is finished, baste with any remaining liquid and top with remaining pineapple.
Great stuff.

A real simple and delicious glaze with no fuss...
Brown sugar and just a little pineapple juice... just enough to make a thick paste so it will coat the ham in a thick layer.
You can also do brown sugar and mustard instead of pineapple juice. Surprisingly, you really don't taste the mustard when the ham is done.

Just use the pineapples and brown sugar. Lay out the pineapples on top of the ham. Then mix the brown sugar with the juice from the pineapples and pour over the ham. Cover with aluminum foil and bake. Hope this helps.

Absolutely, you can make a great glaze.
I'd melt the butter down, then add the brown sugar and cook (stirring constantly) until it is bubbling. Add a little pineapple juice to thin it out.
Don't glaze until 10-15 minutes before you are ready to serve as this glaze burns easily.

1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 Tbsp. peanut or vegetable oil
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
2 Tbsp. pineapple juice (from can)
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. soy sauce
Blend all ingredients in a small bowl. Baste or drizzle over pork before baking and periodically during baking.
This won't make a glossy glaze that sticks to your ham, but if you poke some holes in it and baste before baking, stopping every now and then to spoon more over, you'll get a nice, quasi-Asian flavor. We use this on pork tenderloin.
