I am tried of hearing people complain about our troops or say they don't support them! It is one thing to not support the war but you have to support the troops with out them we don't have any rights, they die for in vain sometimes in justice and without them this country wouldn't be the same.

Some people are idiots and actually think we are there to "get oil"....

Part of it is envy. Less than 15% of adult males in the U.S., between the ages of 18 and 25 can meet the standards for enlistment or appointment in the Armed Forces. Part of it is a visceral hatred of George Walker Bush. A hatred which preceded the attack on America. The same sort of hatred was shown against President Lyndon Baines Johnson and that hatred preceded him becoming President after the murder of JFK. That hatred is founded, in art, because both men sounded "different". Their Texas accents didn't register well with the "enlightened" folks who live in the Boston-Washington population belt.
So, because of that, a lot of really bum information is put out. Repeated often enough, these lies take on the mantle of truth because they fit the already established prejudices of the listener. One example is President Bush standing on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier and declaring: "Mission Accomplished". He said no such thing. The banner which adorned the island on the flight deck was there to indicate that the mission of the carrier strike group had been accomplished. The oil thing is another. Even though 85% of Iraqi oil exports are under contract to Compagnie Petrol De Francais (a French company), they try to connect Haliburton to the oil.
But, underpinninng all of this is a dirty little secret. Americans generally don't support American troops fighting and dying to help out a nation of people who don't look and sound like us. After the attack of September 11, 2001 the dust had barely settled near the corner of Church and Vesey Streets in Manhattan before there were "peace" demonstrations on the streets of that borough. Why? Because we were going in to clean out the Taliban and the Salafist Jihadists and help Afghanistan create a democratic regime. But, the Afghans don't look and sound like us, do they? It's a pity the attack on America wasn't launched by some European country. That way everyone would be behind our efforts to clean out the vermin who did and wrest that country from the throes of a totalitarian regime. After all, they look like us, don't they?

On behalf of the vets and still active thank you for your support. The folks that do not support the troops have not a clue on how to deal with the issue at hand. It is not our fault that we are doing the job that has to be done. Our government sent us and the rest of the world pulled out. Just like there fathers should have done. But non the less we are there handling the job and folks need to look at who sent us.

The best way to support the troops is to bring them back NOW so that no one else dies in vain.

I have seen almost universal support for our troops. I think the biggest lesson learned from Vietnam is that no matter how much you disagree with the war, you must support the troops.

Nobody is saying they don't support the troops or are blaming them for the fiasco. Why don't you blame the people who created something vain for them to die for?

Make no mistake. The words "I support our troops" should never be followed by the word "but." If you do not support our mission then you do not support us. Saying crap like that may make you feel better about yourself but it is just that; crap. So if someone doesn't support us I have no problem with them saying so. It's better than the pretenders that try to say they support us but backstab us in thier next breath. I'm not implying that this is your position, just a comment in general.

Most people don't. It is just the few idiots who do. When I got back form Iraq, people were constantly thanking me. One fine gentleman bout my breakfast at the PHIL airport. As a whole, the public is very supportative of what we do!

Where I live, I don't hear that.
From what I've read on these boards and in the news media, I have not seen/heard that.

Must be exclusive in your area.

The only dissent I've heard is about our president and what a pathetic job he has been doing in Iraq.

I've heard very few people say this, and the ones that do generally get ignored by the rest of society.
