Heavy cream, which is also called heavy whipping cream, has a fat content of between 36% and 40%. Light cream has between 18% and 30% butterfat (but usually it’s about 20%), and light-whipping cream has between 30% and 36% fat. If you find a carton in the store that’s labeled whipping cream, it's most likely light whipping cream. You can find Heavy cream or whipping cream in the refrigerator dairy section next to half and half

Heavy cream, which is also called heavy whipping cream in many parts of the country, has a fat content of between 36% and 40%. Light cream has between 18% and 30% butterfat (but generally averages 20%), and light whipping cream has between 30% and 36% fat. If you find a carton in the store labeled whipping cream, it is bound to be light whipping cream. Many, many supermarkets carry heavy cream, but perhaps you should ask the manager at yours if it is available. We doubt that substituting light whipping cream for heavy cream will seriously compromise whatever you’re cooking, if you must make the substitution.

heavy cream contains about 36% dairy fat... compared to whole milk which contains 3.25% dairy fat.

You can find it in the Supermarket's dairy case.

Substitute... depends upon what your doing with the heavy cream. If you're whipping the cream into a frosting, then you may get by with whipping cream which is about 30% dairy fat.

Heavy cream is just whipped milk. You can substitute heavy cream for either half and half or whole milk. You can find it in dairy section at your local grocery....usually where milk, yogurt & cheese are.

Hope this helps.

It's in the refrigerated dairy section near the milk, and half and half. I've used whipping cream (same section) with the same results.

heavy cream probably means low in water. i think you can make heavy cream by dehydrating some regular cream.
