Hi Everyone, I have been dating my boyfriend Chet for 9 months now, and obviously have my personal stuff in his place, but I really hate his coffe mugs, I wanted to buy a new set , so i was wondering should i ask him if it's ok for me to buy something for the house or just go ahead and buy it already. Don't want him to think that i'm moving in or something.
Thank you.
Valerie.

Week 1: Offer to wash up and break one.

Week 2: Offer to make coffee one time and drop one.

Week 3: Repeat Week 1.

Week 4: Repeat Week2.

By then it should be time to bring some new ones around as a 'gift' because you felt so bad about being so clumsy.

Easy.

Personally, I have a strong attachment to many of my things that someone else might think deserves no personal attachment. If Chet has an attachment to his coffee mugs for some reason, you should let them be. It is his house. Just slip one of your own in the back of the shelf when you get a chance.

How bad could they be? It's just coffee mugs. And if it's coffee mugs today, what's next? The silverware?

Ha, you know how i would go about. Just buy it and through the old ones out. I guarantee you he won't even notice, just like he didn't notice the missing plants... lol... No seriously, just buy them and bring them over, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Believe me he won't think anything of it... love ya...

PS... While you at it, maybe you can get Max some Prozac... He can certainly use it... :)

you shouldnt let anyone wind you up like that. let alone your own boyfriend. in my opinion, if he really loved you then he would never ever wind you up about sleeping with someone else. its just downright dispicable! This man is obviously a player. I know its not a nice thing to say or hear but he is. If its hurting you that much then you should obviously leave him. Im not going to say that theres plenty ofother fish in the sea because for some people there arent. ive been in this situation myself. I was with a guy for 8 months, i was 15 and he was 17. and when i was over his house hes get me to do everything for him and even talked me into some stuff which i didnt want to do :(. And after about 5 months hed tell me that he didnt love me and that he was going to the cinema regularly to sleep with some girl. I never believed this because hed always go back to saying that he was joking and that we were meant for each other. this was until i actually went to the cinema with some friends and he was there with his ex gf in the back row. The mates i was with kicked his *** and we got chucked out of thr cinema. moral of the story is, whenever someone tells you something that hurts you so much, believe them whether they go back on what theyve said or not. I know it hurts, but he sounds like hes using you. Its very hard to believe that someone who says they love you is just trying to hurt you and cause arguments. maybe hes doing this because he wants to end it but is too cowardly to end it himself so hes trying to push you away so that you end it instead. whatever happens hun, you have to get outta that relationship otherwise its never gonna end and you will be hurting all the time. xxxxxx

If you're talking about buying a set of coffee mugs what's the big deal? Tell him his mugs suck and you need something that works for your coffee needs. Now if you were buying sheets, towels, or a different couch he could worry.

I wouldn't go so far as to buy a whole new set. If you're worried about the message you're going to send...then there's your answer right there. You're obviously not comfortable enough to just do it, otherwise you wouldn't have asked.

If they really bother you that much, just go out and buy one that you can use yourself. As a guy, I prefer my one go-to anyways. Or if you want to be a little riskier, buy 2 matching ones for you and him...like STUD and HOTTIE (actually that's incredibly lame, but you catch my drift).

Just tell him that you are thinking about him and his image to his guests, but with few jokes and be funny about it. Make him smile and give him the set next time you see him. That will humor him, and won't get the wrong message. At least that's what I would expect from my girlfriend to do if she hated my coffeee mugs.

It being only 9 months it would be a good idea to ask first.

He is gonna think you are attempting to move in. Bring One coffee cup over fo your use and he may not feel the same way.

Devdude's solution is best; that way you will not be lying nor scaring him away!
