I am studying abroad starting in September and I have to book a domestic flight on JetStar and they have a baggage restriction of 20kg and up to an extra 20kg can be paid for as excess baggage. I am most likely going to be over the 40kg weight limit and I am wondering if any of you have experience with the airline and their leniency with the baggage restrictions. Any other reccommendations are greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Yes.

I booked a Sydney-Melbourne-Sydney trip on a weekend to attend a business seminar.

Because they could not adequately fill the flight, they cancelled my Melbourne-Sydney flight and forced me onto an earlier flight, which meant I was not able to stay to the end of the seminar.

Hence they are now the last choice for any travel plans.

I have no experience with them re baggage. But be aware they could cancel your flight and you might miss the one they schedule you on if you arrive after it leaves.

Jetstar is a budget airline and is very strict on baggage limits. I have carried well over the limit on QANTAS but you can't do it with Jetstar. If you really need to take that much, find out what it will cost to send the excess air freight. It will probably be a lot cheaper than excess baggage.

andrew f is right. Do not rely on them if getting to your destination at a predictable time is important to you.

No frills. No leeway, in baggage or check-in time.
