In the process of buying a Colt .45 revolver. It has a certificate of authenticy being 1 of 400 with case and everything, but before I purchase it I want someone to look at it with me, so I make sure I am not going to blow my hand off and that the price is right.. Unfortunately the man that used to go gun shopping with me.. ditched me.. so I am a bit more on my own. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I need to put down payment on it immediately!!

Any competent professional gunsmith should be able to determine if it is safe to shoot. It sounds as if you are buying some sort of limited edition. A word of caution about limited editions, often they are not more valuable than standard firearms. Also, if it is a true collectible shooting the firearm would destroy much of the value. The same gunsmith who checks the weapon should give you an accurate estimation of its value.
