The next generation is nothing like ours.It is exactly opposite.
No family relations, no conistency in relationship, no moral values, and always materialistic... this is our next generation.
I have two grown ups at my home and I have tried my best to teach them the same thing I was taught, but then sometimes I think I have not been too meticulous. The reason is that they are exposed to lot of things at the school and college and the exposure to media is dramatic.
Still I believe that I have been, lucky when I look around.

I was raised like you and we had to work and work hard our parents did not pay for our car insurance and college we had to do those things ourselves and we paid room and board to live at home we were not pampered or spoiled and everyone was required to work out of high school.
This generations saddens me because everything is about instant gratifications and quick fixes instant pudding instant potatoes, instant mess sages and sadly instant sex.
We need to be teaching your younger generation that there are things with living for, waiting for, striving for, fighting for and even dying for.
The next generation is learning that things should be easy because we live in a microwave society there is no thought on perseverance and enduring people divorce before their mattresses are even broken in.
But there has always been people who did not love God and His faithfulness continues through all generations Psalm 100:5.
I am married but have no children but I have instilled the values of God in my nieces and nephews and I pray for them all the time.
This was an awesome and wonderful question God bless you.

I tell my children that each generation tries to look back at events during its time through some seriously rose colored glasses and that the utopia we hear of in past years as well as the moral decline of our present days are always exageratted beyond belief. I mean ask a minority how fun life was in the south during the 40's or 50's in the US or ask a woman about her career choices then and tell me how perfect life was in those good old days.

My Dad taught me that he was willing to die for you to have the freedom to make your God the center of your life. My husband fought for that right too, so yes I suppose I am most definitely teaching me children respect.

I think the next generation is learning that everything and everyone must be politically correct, we should all agree and never have war or arguements, it's not about morals anymore it's about image..and oh yeah, change out the lightbulbs in your house.
It sickens me. I take a look around and think "what happened?"..how did our society get this way?
