Several months ago, I asked this question on Answers and got some great responses: "How can someone stop settling for less than the best." The only thing that has changed is that the "long-distance situation" is over. I didn't meet anybody yet, but I wanted to be free to move on whenever I do meet someone. So, my question: Any suggestions for activities to occupy my time. So far I came up with getting involved in the Alumni association and volunteering at retirement communities. Since I'm 31 and single, I also want to meet other singles while avoiding the typical "night scene," any suggestions?

Wow. That sounds like a rough time for you. I'm glad you go through it, and hope things look up for you.

As to meeting other singles, it depends on your interests. People meet each other at churches. Community colleges often offer short term cooking, painting or music classes. Some humane societies have events where people come to play and walk the dogs they have. If you live in a wine making area, there are often wine tours throughout several of them. You could also try looking on Craigslist for your area, and either responding to ads, or looking for activities that are up your alley.

Well, what are the details of "the other question?" If it was several months ago it will be almost impossible to find with out some clues. This question does not make much sense without it.
