The gallon challenge is a physical challenge in which a person attempts to drink a gallon of milk within one hour without vomiting. There are many variations to the challenge, so formal rules have not been set. However, many groups including the Gallon Challenge Foundation play with the following set of rules:

The entire gallon must be consumed within the course of one hour.
If one vomits, one is disqualified.
Whole milk is typically used; however, chocolate milk is eligible, provided that chocolate syrup (or an equivalent) is added to the gallon of whole milk.

Not being familiar with the gallon challenge, i'm not sure, but I do know that whole milk is heavier in fat than say a 1 or 2%, so a 1% might go down quicker than whole milk.

This has to be something started by the dairy industry. Since milk has become so expensive many people have cut back on consumption. Viola! a new challenge to get some ( gullible) people to buy more milk.
