Ezra 2:62
These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.

Which of you has a written genealogy connecting you to the linage of Aaron. Yet you "ordain" each other to offices in that priesthood.. Without genealogy the High Priest and prophet Ezra says you are polluted and should be put from the priesthood. Then again you always seem to believe the words of a man (Joseph Smith) over these that are the very words of God.... Jim

Enn.. Did you bother to read the question. I know your books say you can do the things you do but since your books are out of sync with what the Bible teaches which one should we choose? Is the book of Moses an addition to God's word? If so it is under condemnation because it is preaching against what is already recorded.. Jim

Lokie: No way, so why should I or any Christian put ourselves under the Priesthood of Aaron and therefore under the Law? I except Only the Priesthood of Christ and the grace that brings life... Jim

The Aaronic or Levitical Priesthood is a lesser or apendage to the higher Melchizedek Priesthood. Therefore, any who hold the Melchizedek Priesthood are also authorized to function in the offices of the Aaronic Priesthood. As for the lineage of Aaron, our doctrines state clearly that the Presidency of the Aaronic Priesthood belongs to a true descendant of Aaron if a worthy descendant can be found. Otherwise, under direction from the Melchizedek Priesthood, others are called, ordained and have the offices of the Aaronic Priesthood conferred upon them in order to carry forth the Lord's work. This began when John the Baptist came to Joseph and Oliver on the banks of the Susquehanna River on May 15, 1829 and conferred upon them the keys to the Priesthood of Aaron.
The Savior made it clear that genealogy by itself does not make for a true child of Abraham. There has to be worthiness. Of these stones can I raise up children unto Abraham. Peter found out that the gentiles were no longer unclean and could have the gospel preached to them and receive all of its blessings. So it is today.

Any man found worthy over the age of 11. (Doctrine and Covenants, Official Declaration - 2). There is no paid ministry in the church. Those who have the priesthood are bestowed the preisthood by the laying on of hands by those in authority holding the keys to both the Aaronic priesthood (as found in the book of Moses) and the Melchezidek priesthood (as that held by Abraham, when he was a priest in Egypt.)
These keys to both priesthood were bestowed upon Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdrey in May 1829 by the angel John the Baptist, and the Angels Peter, James, and John. (Doctrine and Covenants Sections 13, 20, 27, and 84.)

All our scriptures comes from God. I think God can add to His word as much as He wants. Nothing in the Bible says GOD can't add to His word, or even to the Bible, because nohting in the Bible says anything about the Bible.

If God says that we can hold the priesthood of Aaron until the Sons of Levi do make an offering in righteousness, then who are we to disagree?

"Wait God, you can't do that, cause it says in the BIble you can't"

Wait, do you worship the Bible or God?
