I have severe dust allergies. Most medication I have tired don't work so the only thing I can do is to try and stop the allegen. I can either get the carpet professionally steam to kill dust mites or I could get a dehumidifier and try to ruin the dust mites' living enviornment. My home has a 63% humidity level currently. Which should I do?

Try hard wood floors covered with area rugs. These can be easily aired or washed but will still protect children from hurting themselves. The floors themselves won't collect much dust as long as they are vacuumed often. Depending on the finish you can also clean the floors with damp towels which trap dust better. Also, when your kids get older you can put away some of the rugs and enjoy your beautiful hardwood floor. Good Luck!

Get the carpet cleaned. Or better still, removed and replaced with some kind of hypo-allergenic floor covering. And get an air cleaner. I'm not so sure you really want to dehumidify your home.

Good luck!

Get a thermax af2. If you are skeptical, have someone come out and demonstrate for you. Trust me, it works. I have one. It does wonders for my allergies/asthma. Good luck
