There is no weight gain medicine.

You need to find out what the cause of the skinniness is - i.e go to a vet. He could have a medical condition, or he could just be a runty cat - in which case a high quality cat food should be all he needs to grow properly. A vet will make sure he is wormed to begin with - worm infestation can cause a cat to be skinny, usually with a pot belly. Cats should always be wormed as a preventative measure.

I really hope no one on here has any crackpot medicine suggestions - if they do, ignore them, don't take medical advice from strangers. Just take your cat to the vet for some proper advice and to make sure he's healthy.

Some cats are just smaller than others, I have a 3 yr old who weighs 6 lbs and is perfectly healthy. There could be something wrong with him too though. What are you feeding him? The are cat foods specifically made to help cats gain muscle and fat. I would check with your vet. He is probably okay, but you might want to get him checked out to make sure it is nothing serious.

Don't give him any meds for weight gaining, it can be very unhealthy for a cat especially if he's young.
You should feed him tuna or caned food in a sauce( make sure it's organic so you give your cat the best)
also, don';t let him lie around, while he's gaining weight you still need to keep him healthy, so please with him with a Lazar or with a string with a feather attached.
Good luck!
P.S.
Never give him table scraps to help gain weight, they are unhealthy for cats.

My cat is 5 years old and 8 lbs. and she's perfectly healthy.

Check with your vet first and see what he reccomends, your vet may say he's fine at his weight.

Cats a grazers try leaving out some dry food all day for him to eat when he's hungry.

no medicine unless the vet says so, other than that just make sure he has food to eat through out the day. having an over weight cat is not good either.

take him to the vet. If you can feel his bones, he could have worms or be sick. Then give him kitten chow. It has more calories than adult cat food. Also give him canned food.
