call the vet, explain the situation (you are afraid, can't pay) and ask them for THEIR advice (they may have you bring him in, help him, and then maybe have you help out caring for animals that they have boarding or post-op to "work-off" the fees(changing boxes, brushing, etc))..
it can't hurt to call and ask the vet's advice, you might get better news than you expected.

call a local animal shelter and see if they offer any programs where somone can donate to pay for the cats visit, or if you can make payments. Then you can save up and pay a little at a time. explain your situation, and i'm sure they will work with you. and it sounds to me like what your cat has could very well be cystitis. Most cats with cystitis exhibit blood in the urine and discomfort in urinating. The discomfort is usually mild but can become much worse if it is not treated. Some cats may develop stones in the bladder which can be surgically removed, or dissolved with a special diet. Male cats may develop enough crystals in the urethra (the narrow tube carrying urine out of the body) to cause an obstruction. This obstruction prevents elimination of urine from the bladder. If the obstruction is not relieved within 48 hours, most cats will die from kidney failure and the retention of toxins that were not removed by the kidneys. so you need to start calling around right away!

Tell you parents it's only going to get more expensive the longer they leave it, because that's the truth.
Your cat has a urinary tract infection, and you can quote that to your parents, along with this: urinary tract problems are very serious in male cats, they can get blocked bladders and become unable to pee, which is an emergency situation.
Ask your parents why they got a cat if they weren't intending to look after it properly. Go on, ask them! If it were my parents I'd be FURIOUS with them, and would stop at nothing to make them understand how unacceptable their behaviour is.
You can take action yourself if you've got a phone and a yellow pages. You can call a shelter and explain the situation so they can get your cat help - you can even phone the SPCA and tell them what's going on - tell them your cat needs medical attention but your parents won't help. Geez do I feel sorry for you, I hope you can get this sorted out.
If it was me, I'd get someone to help me help the cat.

You have probably been feeding him the contaminated poisoned food that is on a recall list, this happened in Feb. but a lot and I do mean ALOT of stores didn't pull the bad foods from their shelves as told to and of those that did a large percentage of them put the bad food back on their shelves for sale. You need to type in, Recalled pet foods and see if you have that food in your house, and tell your parents about it(the bad food) Did you or your parents know that it is a crime (misdemeanor) to have a visibly sick pet and not take that pet to a Vet? You could call all of the Vets in your area and tell them your situation and see if quite possibly one of them can help you. I think your cat has a serious kidney problem and if it goes further it will die a painful death. If ''push comes to shove'' and you do not find a vet or city clinic that can help you, you could call the humane society in your area and tell them your plight, they could choose to come out and ask you to surrender the cat to them (your pearents have to sign him over if you are under 18 yrs.old) they will take the cat and have a vet look at it and decide if it can be treated or if it should be put to sleep and they cuold impose an ''animal cruelty charge on your parents and that will cost them consideratly a lot more (fines and court costs and up to 90 days in jail) then a visit to a vet and the medicine if needed! I personally would do everything in my power to save the cat but remember that the Humane Society is NOT a no-kill place and you could call a no-kill place to see what you could do.I'm so sorry your parents are IGNORANT to your pets needs, I'll bet if it was you or them that needed the medical attention that they wouldn't hesitate to go to the hospital. I'll pray for your cat and that your parents OPEN THEIR EYES to the cats dire situation.

You're right to be concerned. Ask relatives, friends, friends' parents- anyone you know to help you get him to a vet. It sounds like he has a urinary tract infection. He could even have kidney stones. Truth is, you just don't know what can be causing him to have bloody urine and he does need to see a vet.
Good luck with him. Try not to freak out. If you can't get any help, try contacting a cat rescue group in your area. Explain what's happening with your cat and see if they would help. You could also try calling the vet yourelf. Tell him you're concerned and why, and that you have no money to have him looked at. Some vets are more concerned with the actual animals they treat than with money. You never know- you might find one with a heart! :)

The urinating blood is probably a symptom of a urinary tract infection. I know your parents won't take the cat to the vet, but right now what this cat needs the most is to see a vet.
Part of pet ownership is taking your pet to the vet when he/she is sick and when he/she needs to be vaccinated. If your parents aren't willing to live up to this part of vet ownership, your cat really needs to be surrendered at the nearest animal humane society or shelter. They may end up putting your cat down, if its not a no-kill facility, or they may end up treating him and finding him a home that will provide the appropriate medical treatment if he is ever ill or injured in the future.
Cranberry juice is not going to help at this point. It's useful for preventing urinary tract infections in humans, not cats. The only thing that will cure the urinary tract infection is antibiotics.
At any rate, letting an animal suffer in pain like this is inhumane and unfair to the animal.

I agree - call a local vet and explain what is happening...or possibly try calling an animal shelter - they have vets there also. I actually got free advice from a vet once when someone wrapped a rubber band around my cats tail and cut off the circulation.

He probably has an infection and he should be taken to the VET I know it can be expensive but if you ask your parents to call the Humane Society in your area it will cost a lot less. It is animal abuse not to get help for a sick animal.
See if you can get him to drink Cranberry Juice or give it to him with a dropper if he lets you. This is good for his Kidneys and internal organs to help him urinate.
You can call the Humane Society yourself and ask the question. Go on line and ask for the closest one to you in your area.

Neutered cats still spray, but that's not the issue - peeing blood is BAD, especially in male cats. It means a bad urinary infection, and male cat's bladders can become blocked because of this, which can cause bladder rupture and death from blood poisoning. Please get your cat to a vet asap, BEFORE it gets to this stage!! Chalice
