I saw some posts about homosexuality today so I wanted to get a decent discussion going.

Personally, I think that's a private matter between that person and the powers that be.

If you don't agree with it then fine, don't agree with it. What will anyone accomplish by making a fuss over it?

I will address christians specifically here:

I think Jesus showed us what to do in this case whenever people were getting ready to stone the poor woman who was a prostitute. He said something like let he who is without sin cast the first stone right?

Instead of worrying about what homosexuals are doing why not just go out and use up that energy to help someone instead of condeming people.

Am I off base here or something?

We are not judges.

Do you think you are a messiah that can tell people their sins are forgiven for those of you who agree initially but then add that "but"?

If anyone were condemning people you might have a case, but what some people call condemning is merely honest concern for those who are spiritually blind to their condition.

Homosexuality is attacking Christianity - believe it or not. We are trying to speak the word of God in love so they may be saved. Burning in Hell or the Lake of Fire forever is a fearful thing that no real Christian would wish on anyone.

It is strange that we rush to rescue people from houses that are burning down so they don't die in the flames and we are called heroes, but when a person does what they can to rescue people from fire that will never be put out it is called condemnation. That is twisted reasoning!

I for one understand that the unregenerate mind is blind to truth because before the Lord changed me I was ignorant of all spiritual truth. When my eyes were opened I saw the reality of the lost condition of myself and everyone on earth without Christ! It is a revelation that was shocking and gave me a zeal to see people saved no matter what it cost me or what people think of what I say in regard to trying to rescue others before it is too late.

Christ was mocked and crucified for His love to humanity. He warned His followers that they would endure the same hatred and scorn. It is of little concern to me what mockers and scorners say or what misinformation is spread about the reasons for what I do -- because if by my small efforts one individual can be saved from an eternity of torment in a place of never ending suffering without hope of release - I will take all the mockery and scorning that anyone can pass out for the sake of that one soul.

Now if that is condemnation then so be it.

remember He did not come to destroy the law but to complete it. There are many things He did not speak about It was just a given.I do not think we need to pull homosexuals oput as a specific sinful group to be ostracized. I do how ever believe some of this is happening ,not from religious circles but out of politics. Look at how Rosie O'Donnell tried to make a major statement about someone that no one has varified is gay. She made the big deal about it and she made it look as if the other person was homophobic. But for other than politics and attention what was her point. But back to the point Sin is sin and we all have sinned so therefore we are only adding to our own sin when we judge another person. ( this is different than saying a behavior is wrong one is a behavior the other a person.)

I'm a Christian. I believe that the most important message of Jesus is to love one another and to love Him. No question. It disgusts me when Christians contort the Bible and pick and choose what to follow, citing the creation story, with others. It even says in the New Testament that if you don't get anything else out of the whole book, then to at least love your neighbor.

If being homosexual is a sin (I don't believe so), then how does that make homosexuals any worse than any other sinner? The Bible teaches that if you have committed any sin, no matter how small, you have committed all sins, because they're all bad. We're all sinners, so the best thing we can do is help each other out.

It is so sad that Christians, who are supposed to be loving and good people, can hate and pursecute others.

I have asked this same question a few times, worded differently but the same point. We as Christians shouldn't even be bringing the subject of homosexuality up on here. It is hurtful and we are not their judges as you say. We should be asking more fellowship type of questions or just light hearted ones. I think that's exactly why Jesus didn't preach on it.

he was more concerned with the kingdom of God and salvation. and repentence. that covers all sins.

and the woman wasn't a prostitute. she was an adulterer. and he said he who is without sin cast the first stone AND he began to write. to write? most likely Fred was with Joe's wife, joe was with tom's wife etc...so those men sought to kill a woman for the SAME Sin they did themselves. get it?

saying what is right or wrong according God's law is not judgment. giving reward or punishment, stoning etc..that IS judgment.

like MANY christians I couldn't care less what people do in their own homes. but when it becomes a MANDATED acceptance of a behavior then it becomes a problem and people have to speak out. apply that second to last sentence to homosexuals....why not go about your business and give respect to get it, be a nice person and keep your sexuality where it belongs? in your home behind your bedroom, kitchen door etc...?

to the follow "but" yes it's ALWAYS conditional. IF you repent you are forgiven etc...always conditional. no freebies.

Matthew, not one of the verses you stated mean that marriage would desire to be between a guy and a woman.. Jesus by no ability stated that. Nor did he ever condemn homosexuality. as a be counted of certainty there replaced into no be conscious for homosexuality on the time the Bible replaced into written. over the years, the Bible has been mistranslated countless situations to in nice condition prejudices held by ability of the translators. Christians commonly like to quote Leviticus of their condemnation, ignoring the certainty that they declare the previous testomony would not practice to them (even inspite of the indisputable fact that it does) and additionally they violate countless of the verses in Leviticus (ingesting shellfish, donning polyfiber blends, having long hair, shaving their beard, etc). Christians are hypocrites in that they like to %. and choose from the Bible and homosexuality is a significant occasion of this choosing and selecting to in nice condition prejudices. the genuine injustice is that "Christians" think of they'd use the government to stress their fake interpretations of the Bible (which should not be used to shape regulations in the beginning) on people who do not have faith what they do. those regulations do violate the bill of Rights, in spite of the shown fact that, and could at last be deemed unconstitutional in time. the greater youthful technology is fortuitously smarter approximately those themes and don't have faith in discrimination. Danielle H, please be so sort to let us know the place precisely it states that marriage is only between a guy and a woman? you may not have faith you're only repeating what you have been advised.. how handy. To the guy under me, only via fact which you're uncomfortable with an thought does not mean you may outlaw it.. sorry approximately your success. Muldah, not one of the verses you stated handle homosexuality.. seems such as you're keen to justify your perspectives.. in certainty the final verse you quoted condemns divorce, yet all of us understand heterosexuals do this freely.

Perhaps Jesus DID preach about homosexuality and his message was that they were as worthy of his love as anyone else.

There is a story in Matthew (8:5-13) about Jesus healing the "servant" of a Roman centurion. Except the word that the centurion used to descibe this man to Jesus indicates that the man was probably his lover. Jesus shows the sick man compassion and heals him.

I agree of course. but also, who gave anyone the right to play God? Isnt that what they are really doing? It is best to give advice in only two circumstances; when it is requested and when it is a life threatening situation. Other than that, most people do more harm than good. I believe we are co-creators of each other. Judging usually only causes rebellion.

Exactly. Jesus had much better things to do. He preached peace and tolerance. Read the beatitudes. Who are the blessed ones? The merciful, the peacemakers. Never does he say "blessed are those who judge others" or "blessed are those who follow the law to a T."

It is a matter between God and the person who is standing before him.
God has shown us he does not like sin. Read about Sodom and Gomorrah. I think we all need to worry a little more about what is going on around us. It is getting pretty sad when children cannot be allowed out on the street in New Orleans when their gay convention is going on. Men having sex in the streets is pretty close to Sodom and Gomorrah to me.
