I think if you gave her water rather then gateraid she would not drink as much. She is most likely drinking so much because it is soo good. I just give my daughter all the water she wants in a day. I let her have 6 oz of 100% fruit juice and 12 oz of milk a day. She always drinks the juice so fast, and always asks for more

I am sure if gave my daughter a nice big bottle of something sweet, she would just down the whole thing as well.

You need to limit what she is drinking if she is taking in this much fluid. Limit her to one (small) glass of juice and 1 small glass of gator aid, to limit her sugar intake. Excessive thirst is usually a sign of diabetes. Give her all water or milk once she has had her allotted juice and gator aid.

Maya would probably such down a 22 oz sprite if I would let her, just because it is a treat. One little boy I watch will literally drink as much juice as you will give him. He will drink an entire bottle if I let him (which of course I don't).

But if you limit these kids to water, they drink a good amount still (depending on the activities we are doing.) But it isn't the excessive intake like they do with sweet stuff.

She just may be thirsty, really gator aid for a 2 yr old probably isn't necessary. Give her water and milk is the best. She may be dehydrated. But she just may be a drinker. My daughter can drink a lot of water! I've always encouraged her to drink too so that she would never have any problems with hydration.

I would talk to the parents about having her tested for diabetes. That seems like an excessive amount for a 2 year-old. Gatorade has a lot of sugar in it. I would stick to only water and milk.

If it's hot and the child is active, that may not be too much. I would stick with water but my 2 1/2 year old can do this same thing during the summer time and he has no health problems what-so-ever.

Keep a eye on what she drinks and write it down...it could be a early sign of childhood diabetes. Give it to her mom to give to her child's Doctor on the next visit or better yet she can call his office and talk to a nurse, and the nurse will tell her if she should come in.

Gatorade and juice will make her thirsty b/c of the sugar in them. She should stick to drinking milk and water.

No it isn't, when she urinates does she completly fill her diaper? Does she cry alot or lay around alot? You should talk to her parents about having her checked for diabetes. A baby at a daycare I used to work at did the same thing, they took him to the ER one day because he started to get lethargic and his blood sugar was over 600. It causes them to drink alot to try and flush out the sugar.

best to check with doctor, but my son's daycare always nagged me about that with my son. I took him to the dr. and they ran a test. It came back normal. My son was just a heavy drinker as I am and his father is. Should stick with water most of the time though. :)

gator aid has TONS of sodium which is probably making her dehydrate. Give her water instead.
