2 key things about what you've said

1. When it comes to execrise it is important to remember that you must keep building your strength and endurance. Walking 2 miles at 3 mph is just fine as a starting position. Do that for 2 weeks and up it to 3.5-4 mph. And so on. At about the 2 month mark I would suggest you start adding 30 second jogging intervals into your walks every 5 minutes. As with the walking alone build those up too. Maybe 2 weeks later start doing 1 minute intervals.

2. Eating breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you don't eat properly, your metabolism will slow to a crawl and then it won't matter what you put in your body, it won't be burned

Eat 3 solid meals a day and a couple of snacks. Try to keep each meal below 500 calories and each snack below 200 calories.

Drink LOTS of water. The more water you drink the less your body stores. For example I drink on average 90 ounces a day.

Another helpful piece of advice is to write down everything you ate each day. That way you know exactly what you're putting in your body.

Also keep in mind, weight loss is a very slow process. A healthy loss is between 1-3lbs a week. Don't expect miracles, there just is no such thing. Take your time and don't get frustrated at the scale, just know that you're doing the right thing for your body and keep it up!

Your doctor wanted to give you the news gently. It appears that you know you need to lose weight. Since checkups are yearly, it is not totally unrealistic to get down to 140. A treadmill is a great way to gauge your progress! You are walking 2 miles at a rate of 3 mph. Since you are already on there for almost 3/4 of an hour, try increasing your speed - not the incline (at this stage). Make a goal to be walking 2 miles in 40 minutes. Then, 2 miles in 38 minutes. Stay on the treadmill, however for 45 minutes, using that extra time, once you've reached your goal, as a cool-down. Aerobics gives you a great feeling - that's why so many people do it! It's OK to exercise on an empty stomach - drink lots of water, however afterward, have your low fat yogurt. Go to a nutritionist to figure out the best diet for you. Good Luck!

Its simple to lose weight the hard part is making the life style changes you need to. Trust me I know i used to weigh 329 pounds now down to 235 and still dropping. Try this. And combine it with will power and the eagerness to succeed.

Eat well - Eat wholesome real foods no junk or packaged pre cooked garbage. Whole natural foods in moderation are the key. And plenty of fresh clean pure water. Eat smaller meals four times a day rather then three Eat until you begin to feel full then step away form the plate. When eating out chose half portions or child size dishes. and don't forget breakfast.

Move well - Get moving walk, run, swim, some sort of exercise at least 3 times a week for and hour. Take the stairs at work, walk the dog nightly Just move don't spend your spare time sitting around. Your starting off just fine with the 2 mile walk increase your distance or speed. And get plenty of sleep

Think well - think in a positive manner approach each day and task with a fresh and open mind. Do not limit yourself by thinking negative thoughts. About you weight loss goals at times you'll want to scream and cry go ahead and do it. Get it out of your system then climb on the scale and set your next target weight you want to reach. And go for it you can do it with hard work and the drive to keep pushing you'll meet and beat your goals.

KoKo you are on the right track. Don't worry about what is good or bad on the treadmill, if it is more than you did before than it is wonderful, amazing. Just everyday try to push yourself just a little bit more. You won't always be able to though, some days those legs will feel like Jello, but make sure that you everytime you workout you feel like you pushed to your limit that day.
As far as the eating, it is good to exercise first thing on an empty stomach. But make sure you do eventually eat breakfast. Skipping meals is a no no. Drink plenty of water, lots of fruits and veggies, lean meats, and whole grains. You will be amazed how you will just fall into a routine. Probably the most important thing to remember is if you have a bad day, exercise didn't go well, or you ate something you know you shouldn't, don't beat yourself up about it, not that big of a deal, as long as you get back on track.
Good luck and congratulations on taking those first steps.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm not gonna say how much I weight, but trust me, it's more than you.

When I walk 2 miles on the treadmill, it usually takes me about 43 minutes or so, but I walk for an hour a day and get about two and a half miles.

I really don't think you should skip breakfast like that. Have a bowl of healthy cereal and skim milk or something like that.

Good luck, and let me know if you need any more advice. Losing weight is really hard sometimes, but I think you can do it.

you've gotten a good start. I don't eat breakfast before I exercise either. drink some water before you start, though, and eat when you're done. don't worry about your walking time. it will improve as you get more used to walking. you will feel energized and not so sleepy. if you have the energy in the evening to walk some more, go ahead and do it. the more you exercise, the faster you'll lose weight and the better you'll feel. make sure you take in enough calories and water. these sites can help you with your diet and exercise programs. good luck! I did it. I know you can, too.

1. No thats a great pace to start off!

2. It's a faze your body will soon get use to it .

3. I would have a bottle off water when walking and maybe a granola bar before for more energy .

this sounds like a GREAT plan !

Now for eating
stick to :

1200 - 1300 calories per day

Write down what you eat and nothing with over 10% fat!

Sounds to me your on the right road to losing weight !

~~CONGRATS ~~

1. You're on the right track. The exercise isn't going to do much for weight loss yet, you're going to have to work up to longer distances. But you knew that. Nobody becomes an Olympic athlete overnight, any more than they lose weight overnight.

2. Just keep at it. Increase distance gradually.

3. As for the eating, that's fine. You're not going long enough hard enough that you would need any more than that, unless you've got pre-diabetic blood sugar problems. I don't know you or your routine well enough to help you with that.

Keep exercising. Build your way up to faster speeds and longer periods of time. I would advise walking for 3 minutes and then running for 4...he next day build up by 30 seconds or a minute.
EAT BREAKFAST! Its so important when trying to lose wieght. Have smaller portions for lunch and dinner. Drink a lot of water.
I did wieght watchers and it helped!
Good luck =)
