We're all going to die and that's the end. Our lives are meaningless given this inevitability. Billions have died before you and billions will die after you. You might say that your deeds are noble and you're doing it for those after you, but all of humanity will die and it won't have meant anything. This miniscule earth will be destroyed. For all we know, infinities of creatures lived, evolved, and thought somewhat like we did, before us. And infinities of creatures will do the same after we're gone. This thing that we call the universe will swallow itself up again and new life will evolve. Don't give me some kind of grief about finding meaning, there is none to be found. Everything we do boils down to chemical reactions and physics. We're just matter, no more special that the chair you might sit in.

Trying to "help me out" is a nice way to avoid thinking.

This is the situation if there is no Creator. No purpose, no meaning, no point. It is no wonder that we cannot bear to think about it for long; it would drive us insane or to suicide or to seek God.

But we humans have this incredible ability to not think about things. Keep busy and focus on little insignificant bits of happiness. Watch TV endlessly. Spend hours at Yahoo.

But for me, I'd rather seek God.

You are speaking purely about "matter" - physical T-h-i-n-g-s

You are more much more than the body you possess at this time. You are made of the same stuff that makes up the universe, and yes even that chair your sitting in as you read this.
But the difference between you and the chair is? Your currently animating your physical body.
The soul or energy that is the "you" that animates your physical body.
That chair if it is made of wood was once a tree and alive. It once housed a life force - what happened to the essence that made it "alive"? It returned to the source or recycled into another physical state.

The Life force,
is the eternal
It is the "universe" ...it is "God"
It is all there ever has been and all that ever will be-
You are a part of that "life force" or energy whether your in a living body ( what we call "alive") or out of a living body( what we call "dead").
The illusion is that once the life force has left the "living body" that it ceases to exist.
It doesn't it simply moves on to a "newer model"- Kinda like getting a new car ;)

I personally feel uncomfortable with the current world religions depiction of "God" - it comes with to many narrow viewpoints.

Current religious thought is Designed to enslave people not liberate them.
Once you realize that your are
eternal
that your part of the Whole
then
you are free
and life once again has
"meaning"

Peace
We are all a drop in the ocean of "God", let's go swimmin

What about motion? Where there is motion there is a mover, and ultimately a first mover, itself unmoved.
What about chains of effecting causes? Ultimately there must be a first cause which is itself uncaused.
What about the contingency of natural things? Contingent things do not have to exist; they are non-necessary; they come into existence, and undergo change, and pass away. Now contingent things demand as their ultimate explanation a non contingent being, a necessary being. This is God.
What about the scale of perfection in the world? Things are more or less good and better and still better, there must at last be a best which is the source and measure of goodness all along the line. There must ultimately be a noblest.
What about the order and government seen in the world? Things act in a definate way and were manifestly designed to act so; through their nature (that is, their active or operating sense) they are governed in their activities. Thus there are design and governance in the world. Hence there are ultimately a first designer and first governor. God!

just because you are going to die
means your life has no meaning?
i bet if you lived forever you would feel worse about it
read ecclesiastes but it wont make you feel better
matter/energy is just one aspect or perspective on reality
not the only valid way of perceiving it
i really agree with where you are coming from
what you say is true
but there is more
think for a minute
are you really just this temporary person?
that just popped out of nowhere and then disappear?
that doesnt make sense
you are more than just a body and thoughts
you are nature itself
now manifesting as a person
it'd be like you sat at your computer
for years on yahoo answers
and forgot that you were a real person
sitting at a computer

meaning occurs in the human mind, just as the words you have entered here have a meaning for each mind that encounters them. It is in your own mind that you will find meaning, not in external things like the planet or the cosmos or some other person, only in your own mind can you justify your existence and place meaning upon it, and once you have accomplished that, there is very little else that truly matters.

Life is not meaningless. Go out there, be productive and enjoy what you earn from your work. And don't let the left confiscate your wages and don't let the right subject you to a sacrificial morality. Enjoy this life to its fullest! Its the only chance you'll have!

You fell into the definately empty. Did you happy in this life? Did you unhappy this life?
All this memories will not gone. The know you are here, will not gone. It is carrying forward to your next creation, no matter any creature will be.

You miss the meaning; thus, you feel hopeless. It does not have to be that way. Don't be deceived by science and words of men, which is laden with error and prejudice. Search for truth in the scriptures. I know that this is easy to reject, but, unless you lie about your perceptions, you have nothing to lose for searching.

You need to get some fresh air. Get out a bit and see all the goodness out there. Place your hopes in the Lord and put a smile on.
