You are partially right.

She is still his baby girl that he helped raised and changed her diapers. It's hard for any parent to think of their child having a relationship. He also knows what he was like at your age, and even moreso, how your generation is. It's very common (sadly) for kids your age to be having sex. Even though you two may not be doing it, it's sticking with you because of everyone that does. And he doesn't want her having any part of that (and rightly so).

It sounds like he's an old fashioned type of father and the way to win him over is NOT slinking around dating her behind his back. That will only encourage his line of thinking that you're some sort of sleezy guy trying to get in her pants. Your best bet is to be classy, arrange a proper date, show up at her house a few minutes early and talk to him. Tell him you understand him protecting his daughter, compliment him on what a fabulous job he's doing and how much she means to you. It's scary, I know, but if you're really determined to be with this girl and not worry so much about him interfering, I think that's the only way you could do it.

13 is too young to be dating, it's ok to be friends and do
things with a group of kids --you're at the age to have fun
and not mess with girlfriend/boyfriend relationships -- as
you can see from the Q & A section here there's a lot
of emotion that gets involved that even grown adults have
trouble coping with. Enjoy a healthy youthfulness, and things
will take their natural course (maybe with your present "g/f"
and maybe not)

good luck to ya

Yes, she is suppose to be Daddy's little girl forever.
Not to mention he was once a teenage boy and remembers all to well what you guys are thinking and what happens once those hormones start raging. It's natural for a father to want to protect his daughter, along with boyfriends comes hurt and he doesn't want to see him little girl cry. You should be friendly with her father so he gets to know a little more about you. He'll be more accepting of you. Don't try to talk to him like he's one of your school friends treat him with respect and don't fake it. He'll like you even less if you do.

He probablly thinks that she is too young for a relationship. My dad use to be like that but then i sat down and talked with him and things were okay after that..but he was still a little strict. Just have her sit down and have a serious convo. with her dad with you maybe there...it just might work, it will show that you are mature and can take care of her and yourself.

It's because she's too young to have a boyfriend. She is not emotionally or physically ready for what it means to have a boyfriend and her dad is being a good dad.

Perhaps he feels she is too young to have a boyfriend. She should concentrate on her school work and other activities.

my daddy is the same way. i know it sucks for you, it sucks for her too, but her dad just can't stand the thought of losing his baby girl. just keep on keeping on and try not to let it effect the relationship.
