My cousin brought a kitten home last night that has 1-2 broken legs, worms and fleas. I placed her in a pet carrier last night, and now she's barely moving at all.

My cousin *said* she was taking it to the vet today, but needless to say she isn't. I am basically watching this cat die. I have no money and feel so miserable, what do I do??? I have $20 until monday.

*The vets said to take her to the shelter where she would be put to sleep. Our rescues won't take anymore animals either.

The meow meow died at about 3pm. Just as I was picking her up to take her to the vet she started gasping for air, then she quit trying to breathe.

I'm more pi$$ed than anything. My fiance's mother was going to finance the bills and I got an appt w/the vet then she dies.

If you truly care about this kitten and really do wanna help it, you can apply for CARECREDIT online, it is basically like a credit card used for medical attention for animals. You apply, and see how much you get approved for. Take the animal to a vet thats supports care credit, (which is almost every vet/emergency clinic). You can pay back the balance in payments withouth interest for a couple of months. Me and my fiance applied for it when our cat was sick, it really saved his life, because we were seriously broke and couldn't afford to take him. When you get approved, you print out a receipt type of thing, and can take the kitten at that very momment. Its completely up to you and how much responsibility you want to take over this kitten. This is just a suggestion, I hope other people can give you other options to this situation, good luck with it :)

I would try going to www.petfinder.com Look at the list of shelters within an hour or two of your location and start calling the ones closest to you, one right after another.

Instead of asking a shelter or rescue to take the kitten, offer to foster the kitten if they will pay for medical part of things. You mights also want to volunteer some time if they help the kitten

You might also want to call all the vets in your area - describe the problem, explain you don't have any money. You might find one that will be able to help you.

I would also try posting this message on

www.thecatsite.com/forum - and
http://forums.petfinder.com/

both these places have some very active cat lovers, and one of them might be able to take the cat, or help you with finances.

If you don't find any help, you might want to start giving the Kitten Milk Replacement (not cows milk) you can find this at most petstores and vets offices. Dewormer and flea medicine is pretty reasonable. As for the broken legs, I'm not sure the best way to work with that, but you might want to call the vet and ask what to use to bind up the legs/

But, as hard as it is, if you can't find help for the kitten. It might be best to have the kitten put down.

Putting the kitten to sleep is the most humane thing to do. You can try borrowing money. Maybe canvas the neighborhood and ask for $5. If enough people pitch in, you can afford the vet bills. If you have no intention of keeping the kitten, you need to find another owner. The kitten needs to go to the vet NOW or it's going to die anyway. Seriously. Tell the vet your situation and they might be able to work something out. Just take it in. If you've got tears in your eyes, with a little baby kitten in your arms, what kind monster would say no?

Go to the pet store and see how much flea repellent for a kitten will cost you. D-worm is less than $7.00, I know that and if you can get some Ace bandages and wrap her legs until she gets to a vet, please do so. This kitten is suffering and unless you can get her help ASAP then you might have no choice then to take her to the shelter. Is she drinking water? If not try to feed it to her.

Cats are amazing that they can heal really well. My cat was hit by a car and had a broken hip and leg. At the time I couldn't afford to take her to the vet. The
Vet told me to put her down. I refused and aided her as best as I could. She now is completely healed and happy.

I wish I could take her for you and I'd really like to know what happens to her, if you can keep us updated.

Good luck and cheers to you for trying to care for her.

***I am very sad to hear that. But I'm so glad you did what you could.

Do this! I see it all the time.....

Go to Craigslist.org
select your city
and go to pets and post an ad
Let them know of your situation
I hope you are in a decently big city, where are you located?

I am more than sure that when the right person comes along you will get help. I see it on there all the time and have even donated.

Do you have a paypal account? If so let them know that or ask for money to be sent to the vet clinic.

you CAN save this little guys life!

please let me know how it works out for you!

Kitten unfortunately are very hard to set legs on. If she hs gone a while with these broken legs I imagine she is too far gone by now. I would take her to the shelter like the vet said and have her put down. that seems to be the best answer. If you nor her have the money to care for it now, she won't have the proper care either way and shouldn't suffer for it.
Sorry for your situation. Good luck

Borrow some maney from your neighbours or friends or a cat loving person you know and take this kitty to the vet. there is no reason to kill it because his legs are broken! They can be fixed. Ask the vet for a payment plan. Or ask the rescue centres to provide medical care for the kitty, promising to adopt it afterwards. Please do your best to save it! In the meantime, give him some food and water.

Try calling the Best Friends Animal Society's network hotline or email animalhelp@bestfriends.org and explain your situation and give them a phone number to call you.

Better yet, call them below and ask to talk to a Network Operator and they can put you in touch with a network of people in your area who help with animal rescues.

u can get all of those treated. It does not need to be put down...it is very easy and quick to take care of those..(except broken legs) the legs would need to be casted up and have to take it easy...It shouldn't move with broken legs. Take it to the pet hospital...they will take it in and tell u how to treat it..If it is HORRIBLE COndition then yes maybe...But try all your sources before resorting to put it down. And save a life!
