Various things, but dehydration is a first possibility. The better question is why you get nose bleeds? Nutrition? Dry climate? Picking it? LOL! You need to see an ENT specialist.

Okay, I just went to an ENT who guessed that I had been having nosebleeds, so let me tell you what she told me. She said my allergies/sinus problems were causing irritation in my nose and thus caused the nasal area to fill with blood. And, remember, the nasal area is made up of a lot of capillaries so it is easy to break them and cause bleeding. Mine just came on from being in the shower, etc. Are you saying the blood from your nose has been darker than usual? It is true that dark blood is that which doesn't carry as much oxygen as bright blood (depends on whether it is coming or going from the heart).

Bright red blood usually comes from near the source of the bleeding. Dark blood comes from deeper within.
One question, do you eat a lot of chocolates. That's one reason for a nose bleed. I would go to the docs, dark blood means it's coming from deep inside.

If you have allergies, and take medications, the nose bleeds can be simply because your membranes are dry. Try using vaseline on a q-tip and swab it on the inner lining of your nasal passages. That should help keep the nose bleeds down.

Having a lot of iron in your diet can darken the color of your blood.

You wouldn't happen to have hep c would you? That would explain a lot. Iron is causing the dark color in your blood.

You might have a sinus infection from allergies. Or it could be too dry - from climate or air conditioning. A doctor should be able to help you.
