It may be an allergy such as hay fever, in which case over the counter remedies from the pharmacy will help, but it could be an eye infection, in which case you may need to see a doctor for a prescription. In the UK, however, there is a product for eye infections which you can buy without prescription - ask your pharmacist.

You should really see your eye doctor so that he/she can determine the exact cause of your red eyes - and recommend the proper treatment. If you're pretty sure it's an allergy, your best OTC drop bets are Zaditor and Alaway - stay away from Visine. Also if you're experiencing dryness, go with an artificial tear drop like Systane or Refresh.

if u wear contacts u could be wearing them too long and stopping ur eyes getting enough oxygen, this causes the blood vessels to expand and can look as tho your eyes are bloodshot, if you think this could be the case try not wearing them when u dont need to eg if you're not going out anywhere and if possible try and give yourself at least one day without them per week
hope this helps!
