Are there any parking lots at the station? If not, what about street parking. I need to get from Jersey to Jones Beach and would prefer to drive part of the way and then take LIRR. My friend will pick me up at the station. Are there any other stations that have a lot of parking if Jamaica doesn't? Thanks I can't find this info on the LIRR website anywhere!

Thanks for all the tips! I think we might just drive the whole thing. We are going Sunday for the show. I think we're planning to tailgate in the afternoon. Is the traffic going to be horrible? I guess there's not much I can do about it, but if it takes forever to get anywhere I might go with the train. Thanks!

LIRR does not have parking facilities at its Jamaica main station. If you want to park your car in Jamaica, you will have to go to one of the paid parking garages in the area, and it can get quite expensive.

I would advise against parking on the street. Jamaica is not exactly the kind of neighborhood I would leave a car unattended, unless it's a beat-up old junker. On the commercial thoroughfares in Jamaica such as Merrick Boulevard, Jamaica Avenue, etc., it's all metered parking anyway and you can't just leave your car there all day unless you can come and throw a few quarters in the meter every few hours.

Since you are coming from Jersey, it's not a good idea to drive then take the train. You will have to pay the bridge tolls, then the parking garage, plus the gasoline cost, then the train ticket, and it can all get quite expensive. You should just take NJ Transit to Penn Station, transfer to the LIRR there, and take it to whichever station your friend is picking you up from. Either that or drive all the way.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

There is definately parking around there. It would definately NOT be my first choice of places to park. Why not take the train from jersey to the beach or just drive all the way to your friends house? You gotta come up with a better plan than parking at Jamaica.

To be totally honest, Jamaica to Jones Beach isn't very much of a drive...you're already doing the majority of the drive.... what's another half hour or so?

If you want you can park your car in Lynbrook, or Rockville Center, they are nicer stations about twenty minutes from Jamaica and they WILL have parking for you.

Yes, AirTrain from JFK to Jamaica, then LIRR points east and west.
