We have a jeep grand cherokee laredo. its a 2002. we've always kept it clean and serviced, but it still it gives us many problems. first of all, for some reason the radio doesnt work. we bought a fuse but it doesnt seem to help. next the window on the driver side goes down without anyone touching it, upon acceleration, the air conditioning goes out....what could be wrong? the dealership doesn't want to see the car, because since it came off of the lot, they've had to fix things, and this time they want to charge over $1000.00 what should we do?

I will address all three problems as listed.
The radio has it's own fuse that is at the back of the radio,it has to be removed from the dash in order to replace it.
The window that has a mind of it's own, this is due to the wiring inside the door, there is a harness between the door and the body, because the door is constantly being opened and closed the wire eventually breaks causing a short to power or ground, door harness needs repairing.
A/C this is usually caused by low charge in the system, try getting the refrigerant topped up or a complete recharge done.

I'm not sure if you meant the window goes up and down, when you accelerate, or that the a/c cuts off when you accelerate.

Whichever it is, that indicates an intermittent connection. My 97 Cherokee had a problem on a pressure switch connector, which kept the a/c from working.

Any vehicle has to be in working condition when you buy it, a used vehicle either has a warranty or not, if yours does than the dealership has to repair warrantied items. You might check on the Lemon law in your state.Good Luck.......

Gremlins. I have a 96 Grand Cherokee and have almost 200,000 miles on it and haven't had a problem, and I use mine offroad occasionally.

Before purchasing another vehicle, consult Consumer Reports. Jeep is no longer known for quality. It is actually rated very poorly.

You should trade it in. Grand Cherokees w/ gremlins (particularly wiring gremlins) are money pits.

Don't throw good money after bad. Get rid of it and buy a more reliable vehicle. Jeeps are a very dangerous vehicle. Ask any veteran of World War ll who used them. The government bought them because they were the cheapest vehicle they could buy to fill the need. Willys, was the original manufacturer, and where are they now? Nuff said?
