It would depend a lot on what part of Maryland you are leaving from. Right? Huh?

From LaPlata, MD - Fredericksburg is 40 minutes away via US 301 and VA 3 (and the road which connects VA 3 to US 301).

The question is not clear. If someone told you an hour and assuming that traffic was clear, one is probably coming from College Park or Bowie. Anywhere else will require more than an hour's drive time, easily.

Being that Fredricksburg is in Maryland, where do you want to go from? From DC to Fredricksburg is about 45 min without traffic on 270. From Baltimore to Fredricksburg is also about 45 minutes on 70 without traffic.
