Since Bartles and James is a "cooler" it is a dilution of wine (only 3% aalcohol by volume) it will not have aged and in theory should taste the same as it ever did. If this bottle was kept as a memento of a particular occasion like a first kiss or your first drunk - try to remember the day and the purpose of the keepsake. Chill the beverage well (it is no good warm) and maybe share it with a friend so the two of you can reminisce about the old days when this was the "best" you could get. Have a nice bottle of Chardonnay or some nice cold beer (as you prefer these days) and continue the merriment and make new memories to carry you ahead to the next "memorable occasion". Cheers!

Unfortunatly Bartles & James is not a good wine. It is entirely possible that it has turned to vinegar by now. I feel bad having to tell you this because you were saving the bottle for something special. I sugest cooking a nice at home candle lit dinner for you and your sweetie and have the wine then. I would also purchase another bottle of wine to have on hand in case the one you have has turned rancid. If it does not taist good when you open it, dont drink it because it will make you sick if you drink several glasses of vinegar. Good luck.

Because you are throwing out the garbage, and don't want to make someone who doesn't know wine sick when they open it to drink. Bartles and James is not a 'good wine' ... it will turn to vinegar rapidly, and was meant to be imbibed no later than the end of 1989!

By now it is totally gone, into what I'm not sure, but it's not a wine, it doesn't age. Just keep it as a memento, that's probably the safest thing to do with it right now.

Are we talking about a wine cooler? If so I would guess the expiration date has come and gone.
