Rocky didn't have the contenders in his era. How would he fare against Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Shavers etc. Whats your opinion?

Brother he wouldn't fare to well against any of the fighters you just mentioned because he would be fighting at "light" heavyweight!

Even if he decided to gain the weight I don't think Marciano would be the same after that, fighting against fighters who where heavyweights to begin with and top ones at that.

It would be insane for Marciano to fight guys that big no ******* way. Marciano would be fighting Light heavyweights and I think he would fit right in there.

Marciano vs Holyfield cruiserweight?

Big E had to throw gas on the smoldering coals, and put Rock up against the most talented era in heavyweight boxing, what it wasn't quite enough? If Marciano was fighting today's heavyweight division, he would KO the top twenty of today's heavyweights on the same night. Rocky with his little arms would have walked through Valuev and dropped the giant in less than a round, and made short work of all of today's heavyweight division. That said, the 70's were about as good as the Heavyweight division ever got.

Rocky would have KOed Norton, Shavers, and Liston a lot easier than most would want to admit. Liston & Shavers were heavy hitters, but intimidation played a role against most of their victims, and Rocky was intimidated by no one, and would have got them at their own game. Norton wouldn't have lasted, Rocky would have walked through Ken.

Frazier would have been a war, and both Joe and Rocky would have had to come off the canvass before Rocky finally finished Frazier. This one would have been bloody and brutal, but again I see Rocky finding a way to stop Joe.

Now for the part Marciano fan's don't want to hear. Rocky wouldn't have faired any better than Joe Frazier did against George Forman. Big George would have KOed Rocky, with relative ease, in much the same manner he did Joe. Rocky would have been game, but trying to out slug big George in his prime was a lost cause, and Rock lacked the lateral movement and boxing savvy to out box George.

Both Ali and Holmes would have boxed circles around Rocky and won decisions going away. They were much to fast, both had chins, and both could box with the best in history. Rocky could out slug them, but both would know that going in and neither would slug, they would keep the smaller guy on the out side and pick Rock apart from a distance. Rock would eat jabs and counters all night trying to close the distance and it would have been pretty lopsided when they tallied up the scores.

He had a similar style to Joe Frazier, but he was smaller. He would have given Ali some good fights, and beaten many of the other contenders. However, my guess is that Foreman would have beaten him up pretty easily.

By the way, the Ali-Marciano computer fight had two different endings. One version was shown in the U.S., the other (with Ali winning) was shown in Europe. An interesting marketing technique, although dishonest in a sense.

No contenders? Just Joe Louis, Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Floyd Patterson (who wouldn't come out of hiding at Lt. Heavy until Rocky retired). I would put Marciano's competition against the 70's guys any day of the week! Stop trying to downgrade Marciano - you racist!

I think he would fare well, not undefeated though. I think that he could pressure ali, and beat him. Frazier wasnt much of a fighter, he had the left hook, thats all. I think that foreman and liston would give him trouble though, as they both combined power with good defencive ability and speed, especially foreman

He was way to small he would have gotten beat. Stop all the Patterson talk. The man was 21yrs old when Marciano quit. He fought as a middle weight in 52 in 54 light heavy then in 56 turned heavy. Marciano was the guy who quit before fighting a guy his age or younger. Did he fight anybody not taking Geritol. He only defended his title 6 times the last one he was close to losing that's why he quit.
And Ali please stop, Ali in his prime wouldn't have gotten touched by this guy. I'm talking before the US stripped him of his belt. Marciano was a good fighter for his time but he is nowhere near timeless.

I think he'd stand toe to toe with the punchers and hold his own. Ali would take him apart like the surgeon he was.
