I often fly Northwest. I fly from Seattle or Portland to Tokyo, before going to Shanghai. It's nice becuase you get a short break between flights instead of a really long uncomfortable flight. Northwest allows up to 70 pounds for each luggage so you can buy more things to bring back. The airline also has personal entertainment systems on the flight to Tokyo. You can watch movies, listen to music, or play games all on a small screen embedded in the seat infront of you. It makes the time fly by. Plus, you can watch the movies you want instead of watching the movies that they play.

China Southern Airlines is what I used to fly from Los Angeles (LAX) to Guangzhou (CAN) for like $700 or $900 R/T. I forgot exactly how much.

Dragon Air
from HK to China or from some other Asian cities like Sendai, Bangkok, etc.

Cathay Pacific
from major cities anywhere to Hong Kong then change flights to China.

These two are the safest airlines.

If you are wanting a seamless travel use United. By far the easiest, best, most straight forward airline for travel to China. Been using them for years.

I fly out of JFK (New York), and I prefer Korean Air. I heard one of the Japanese airlines is also pretty good and that the flights are less crowded. It depends where you are departing from.

It really depends where you are flying from! I like to travel to China by Dragonair (owned by Cathay Pacific).
