Passion means that you react intensely to anything you feel strongly about. It can be an excellent quality as long as you have self control. People who are passionate accomplish things. They understand what their values are and when they see something that needs to be corrected they go after it and they take care of the problem. When people tell you that you are passionate, it may be a compliment, or they may be telling you that you are over-reacting. Think about the context in which this has been said to you. If it is a compliment, say thank you! If you are over-reacting back off a little with a smile and say, oops, maybe I'm over-reacting!

i looked on the online webster's dictionary and the first definition is: the sufferings of Christ between the night of the Last Supper and His death. Another was: the emotions as distinguished from reason. The first really doesnt answer your question, except that when He died for us it was an act of pure passion. He died for a people who turned on Him and beat Him. Now to use the latter definition, passion is typically beyond reason. When you have passion for a person theres no rhyme or reason why...its just there. Its when you feel so stongly about something/someone that you would do anything BEYOND REASON for what/who it is you are passionate about. Its when you have no limits to how far you'll go. Its when you care about that one thing or person more than you can even imagine. Its intense affection.

In my opinion being passionate about something is a good thing. I see this as you pay very close attention to the work that you are producing ensuring it is at the highest level you can produce. Your skills and learning in the subject matter are very knowledgeable and you care about what you are putting into your work. I would take this as a compliment and continue what you are doing.

It's any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate. They probably mean you are passionate about your work, meaning you love your job and you want to do everything you can to do the best work possible. You put in extra effort, even if it is not required or asked of you, because you want to.

I think that its true that people who are passionate about the things they do or about something are the most successful. Enjoy the compliment from your boss, its hard to find employees that actually love and care about what they do, and its good that he sees that in you!
