Neither one is better than the other as it depends on what works best for YOU. If Xanax doesn't do as good of a job for you as you think it should then discuss changing to something else with your doctor. Only you and your doc can make this decision as each med works differently on all people.

Klonopin Vs Xanax High

Same class of drugs but imo, totally different.

I am a dedicated Xanax user but also have Klonos here.

The main difference is Xanax has a much, much shorter half life meaning it leaves your system quicker and so you need more. This is what makes Xanax the most addictive of the benzos and the one doctors are ever increasingly hesitant to prescribe.

Klonopin stays longer so you will need less of it but it positively is not as fast acting as Xanax in my experience.

Based on my using both, I would honestly say Xanax is closer to a street type of drug in that you definitely can get a high from it if you take too many. Klonopin on the other hand, I find impossible to abuse. Take more than prescribed and I find you just fall asleep.

So, they both have the same general effect of calming you cause they both work the same exact way. It's just a personal preference. But in my experience, the lieklihood of getting addicted to Xanax is exponentially higher than Klonos because it's basically insta-calm and fades quicker where Klono just does what it's supposed to do and stays in you longer.

It's a personal choice. You need to test them out but if I were being 110% honest, I would recommend Klono. these Xanax are an absolute ***** to kick once you get on them.

I have social anxiety disorder and I take klonopin. I found that taking xanax did not do anything for me, while klonopin practically healed me completely. Talk with your doctor about taking xanax for a week or so and see if there is a change, then request klonopin instead. It's all about finding the right medication for your personal biochemistry

Klonopin is longer lasting. It may not kick in as fast as Xanax but it should last all day rather than a few hours. I found Xanax and Ativan to be more addictive since I kept having to pop pills to get rid of my anxiety/panic attacks. When the pills would wear off, I'd have a panic attack. I take Klonopin now and not only is my anxiety level lower, I don't have anymore panic attacks. I take 1mg in the morning and 0.5mg at night.

I feel klonopin is the better choice for anxiety. Xanix does not last very long in your system but does work quicker but wears off. Klonopin last a long time even though it takes longer to work but I definitely would go with klonopin. It gives me a very sutle easy going feeling since I am a very anxious person and can not get things done in time and always in a hurry and have a very blunt personality that can get me into trouble. A great relaxer, your problems subside. I sometimes take more than subscribed of 1mg pills. I have taken 2-3 at a time.

Both are benzodiazepines and are similar yet with some different properties. For panic attacks it would be better to be on a medication class known as SSRIs rather than either xanax or klonopin. Your doctor can help with this if it is appropriate for you.

Klonopin stays in your system longer but is easier to manage. It would probably be a better choice than xanax for panic.

If your doctor prefer to prescribe Xanax you must keep on using this drug... Because many clinical and also personal differences are reasons of different drug choices... At least your doctor may have more experiences for Xanax... If we can categorize drugs as good, better, best , then you don't need to go to a doctor...

hon, you and you doctor need to figure out which drug is best for YOU.

just because Xanax works well for one person, doesn't necessarily mean it's right for everyone.

same goes for Klonopin.

talk with your doc, you and he can experiement and see which is better.... take care of yourself xo

Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling bad. I only found lasting change when I did Cognitive Behavourial Therapy. The following steps should hopefully eliminate (or at least significantly reduce) your panic attacks and anxiety:

1.Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks, OCD and anxiety etc. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can speak to your doctor about taking a course or you can take a course for free online at: www.livinglifetothefull.com

3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. You can get free downloads in you put "progressive muscle relaxation" into Google (e.g. lots of universities have them as free downloads)

With each step practise makes perfect. (i.e. practise the steps every day, not just when you are feeling bad). I hope you feel better soon. Best of luck!
